AMANDA DYAR: MU Rebirth is now available to play in closed beta on the Webzen website. As the successor to the highly popular title MU Online, what are the main differences in the new release and what sets MU Rebirth apart from other MMORPG titles in the industry?
JUN HYEOK IM: What makes MU Rebirth different from other games is its light, casual game play. I mean many MMOPRG players feel sick of repetitive playing styles and the infamous Pay-2-Win model which are easily seen in most Free-2-Play games. MU Rebirth is heavily PvP oriented and has a speedy gaming style. If you don’t have enough time to level up characters to join the PvP contents you really want, MU Rebirth will be the right game for you.
AMANDA DYAR: MU Rebirth will obviously have many things in common with its predecessor as well. How will the storyline and worlds of the two games compare and what new locations and characters will veteran MU Online players find in MU Rebirth?
JUN HYEOK IM: MU Rebirth’s story is based on MU Online. To sum it up, the archenemy, Kundun, was awakened by the false mind of a Lord. To gain Archangel Weapons, the only power to fight against Kundun, players have to collect 10 pieces of the seal scattered over the Archeron. All the new contents updated in MU Online can also be found in MU Rebirth and, in order to encourage frequent PvP, MU Rebirth offers an Arena map where players can easily meet their counterparts to fight.
AMANDA DYAR: Players who are lucky enough to get their hands on a closed beta key for MU Rebirth will receive plenty of in-game cash to purchase items during the trial period. What sorts of items will be up for grabs in the beta, around how many items available in the beta make up the entire stock that will be available in the full version of the game and what are some of the most purchased items early on in the beta?
JUN HYEOK IM: During the Closed Beta, players can obtain various items (almost 500 items) and options from MU Rebirth Item Shop. For example, players can choose and buy any option they think fit for their build so they don’t have to loot items just for some options like Diablo series. The most popular category was “Weapons” and more items will be added after the official launch.
AMANDA DYAR: MU Rebirth is offering fans some nice incentives to leave private servers and join in PvP games with other players online. Can you tell us more about the special items players will receive for completing this task and why experiencing the game with other players is something MU Rebirth is encouraging?
JUN HYEOK IM: The most effective incentive is doing something private servers normally can’t do. Since players already spent a lot of time and money on private servers, they just don’t want to move to a new server for some nice rewards, even though it is official. We are planning to hold an incomparably big PvP event and there will be a chance to get in touch with private server players in MU Rebirth.
AMANDA DYAR: MU Online supported player levels up to level 220 by the time MU Rebirth was announced. What is the level cap in the MU Rebirth beta and what will be the initial level cap for the full game upon release? Also, how many hours of gameplay will the final release contain as more and more missions are unlocked by the player?
JUN HYEOK IM: MU Rebirth’s level cap is 400 same with MU Online. Currently, most of Closed Beta testers already reached the maximum level and they are waiting something more. After the official launch, 100 Master Levels will be unlocked and learning Master Skills will be the main challenge for players.
AMANDA DYAR: MMORPGs are known for character creation and the different character classes players can play as in the fantasy setting. What unique classes or race of characters will be featured in MU Rebirth and what are some of the customization options available to set one character apart from another?
JUN HYEOK IM: Players basically can choose 7 characters and they have indigenous abilities. For example, as I mentioned the Master Skills, each character of MU Rebirth has unique skills that will be the essential part in PvP. A player only can get 100 limited Master Skill Points unlike MU Online so players have to consider which skill will be best for them to make characters stronger.
