First Episode In New Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Developer Series Now Live

Square Enix has announced the release of the first episode in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII's developer diary series. Final Fantasy fans will get the opportunity to go behind-the-scenes with the game's developers and see how the game was made. Read on.

SQUARE ENIX, Inc., the publisher of SQUARE ENIX interactive entertainment products in the Americas, today released the first episode in a new developer diary video series for its highly anticipated upcoming role-playing game LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII. The video is titled “Inside the Square – The Making of LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII.”


Narrated by Lightning herself (Voice Actress Ali Hillis), and captured at the Square Enix headquarters in Tokyo, the new web documentary series will provides a closer look at the game development and the First Product Development Team for the first time in 25 years. The series will also feature commentary from the game’s Visual Works and art teams, and showcase the rich history of the celebrated franchise.

“LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII is the finale in an epic saga that not only features a fresh world-driven universe, but also incorporates all the community feedback we’ve received from the last two titles,” said Yoshinori Kitase, producer. “With ‘The Making of LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII,’ our aim is to provide fans – especially those that have supported the series throughout the years – a behind-the-scenes look at the latest addition to the FINAL FANTASY franchise.”

As the conclusion to the thirteenth iteration in the FINAL FANTASY adventure series, LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII allows players direct control over iconic heroine Lightning in a constantly moving, expansive environment, on a quest to save a doomed world from complete destruction.

LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems and for digital download on the PlayStation Network for $59.99 on February 11, 2014. LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII is rated T (Teen).
