Robocraft (Video Game Review)

Minecraft has managed to create an astounding gameplay with the sole premise that you can build anything you want with the help of cubes. Robocraft is a game that does borrow some elements from the said game although this time you use cubes in order to create one of a kind robot vehicles that you can use, pilot and even engage them in attacks as you see fit.

What I liked right from the start about this game is that it’s very solid. It offers a lot of content despite still being in the early access phase and at the same time the core gameplay is ready, so what you play now is quite the same experience when compared to the final release.

Creating a robot is my favorite thing because you get to choose how to place the cubes, colors and other cool stuff. The robot creation process can easily take dozens of minutes especially if you have a keen eye for details. This process is great and nicely designed, I feel it’s very good and I can compare it to Sims 4’s character creation when it comes to detail, although Robocraft does come with some cool stuff such as adding weapons on your vehicle if you want.

But while creating is fun, a wonderful achievement can be felt only when you pilot the contraptions. Sometimes, I did feel the need to test the robot because not all of them are suitable for operational use. This means that yes, it does take a little while to get used to the game, but then again that was supposed to be expected because this is a new concept!

Combat in Robocraft is amazing and highly implemented, in fact I love the amount of detail that went into the creation of a large, wonderful set o of game worlds that you can enjoy.

A wonderful feeling can be encountered when you to protect your base with your robot since it just manages to make the action more appealing, cohesive and interesting. Fighting real life persons is fun for sure, because you never know the robots they might create or how good they are. For me, this instills a sense of competition that just makes the game amazing. The battles are long and fun, mainly thanks to the massive, expansive game world.

Again, despite it being an early access title, I did find Robocraft to be a very nice looking title. The cube design for vehicles makes it unique, but they are appealing from a visual perspective. Also, the game world is very nice as well.

The tactical gameplay added in Robocraft does manage to make the game even more immersive. For example, you can form platoons and attack the enemies in an organized manner, or you can save the robots in the cloud and share your design with other gamers interested in your robot. Weapons in this game are varied and very destructive. Even though it can be a little hard to equip guns into your robot, the reality is that these are necessary if you want to play against other players. I find it very cool to experiment and this game offers that in spades.

Of course, there are a few mishaps too. The occasional bugs are indeed there, and some of the mechanics are broken due to the current alpha state. Still, the developers are very active and they update the title often!

Overall, the music, sound and gameplay in Robocraft add up in order to create a stellar experience that you can enjoy. The game does a lot of things right and it’s a pleasant, fun experience especially in the beginning, but even as you play the increasing challenge makes things a lot easier! This one comes as a recommended game from me, especially since it’s free to play, so you can download it right now. It’s one of the best and most immersive games I played recently, so don’t hesitate and check it out, this is an amazing game that’s well worth your attention!
