Ares Omega (Video Game Review)

Selenion Games has announced the release of Ares Omega for the PC. The game is a top-down rogue-like shooter that has you stepping into the boots of a soldier fighting a robot rebellion on Mars. Read on to learn more.

Ares Omega features action-packed gameplay that allows you to explore diverse levels while upgrading 45 skills across 3 skill trees. In order to destroy the robot army, players have access to fifty different weapons hidden around the various levels.

Ares Omega takes place on an overrun Mars sometime in the future. The remote military robotics factory has been taken over by sentient weaponized machines that have took over the base from their human masters. Your solider must venture to Mars and defeat the robot rebellion.

It was really fun taking control of a cybernetically enhanced super-solider and working my way up to level 100 in Ares Omega. You must destroy the three rebel robot leaders (Enyo, Deimos, Phobos) in order to reach their commander Ares Omega. As you level up, you will gain new weapons and equipment that can be used on subsequent playthroughs.

Ares Omega features procedurally generated levels allowing for a wide diversity in environments. While the action-packed gameplay is fun for most of the game, it can become rather repetitive after awhile, since you are basically doing the same thing on every level. Ares Omega in regards to visuals isn't much to look at but it does have a great soundtrack to keep you fully immersed.

In the end, Ares Omega is a fun top-down shooter that has a few minor flaws--but is overall enjoyable. To learn more, visit the official Ares Omega Steam page.
