Motocross Madness (Video Game Review)

Motocross Madness is the newest racing title released exclusively for Xbox LIVE Arcade. The arcade racer takes your Xbox LIVE Avatar, places him or her on a motorbike and watches them fly. From the moment you start up the game and unlock some FameStar credits, you'll want to keep playing to keep completing weekly challenges and unlock additional in-game items for your Avatar. The game is very much focused on creating a fun game experience that is only available on Xbox LIVE, and other gamers will surely be jealous of this title as other big name Xbox LIVE Arcade exclusive titles. Whether you're soaring through the air in solo play or racing against your friends and other people online, Motocross Madness is a lot of fun and one of the most addictive games to release this year.

Motocross Madness features a deep Career Mode that gives you plenty to do even when there is no one else to play with. Your career will begin with a tutorial, but soon, you'll be competing in races to earn medals and some cash that can be used to purchase a bike and plenty of upgrades. Career mode also includes a Rivals Mode where you will compete head-to-head with nemesis to see who is the best motocross star of them all. Trick Sessions allow you to practice your moves outside of normal racing situations, as you attempt to chain together the biggest combos for maximum points. Finally, you can take it easy in Exploration Mode and search for all types of hidden coins and other loot, practice your tricks or simply try and create the most bone-crushing wrecks possible. Those poor, poor Avatars.

Nearly the same game modes are available for players in multiplayer sessions whether playing in local, couch co-op or heading online to race against friends and other gamers. Multiplayer is the best way to play Motocross Madness, and the game supports up to eight players in online races. Though Motocross Madness can be a lot of fun, the one real drawback with the game is the lack of maps. There are currently only nine tracks included with the game in three locations: Egypt, Iceland and Australia. You could literally play the game for only about an hour or so and have experienced all the maps the game has to offer, but luckily, there are so many unlockable items, bikes, Avatar gear and more crammed into the game, that you'll keep replaying the same stages over and over without a problem.

You can head to the Xbox 360 Dashboard to get a look at your Avatar to estimate about what the graphics of Motocross Madness are like. While not terrible, they are definitely look a lot more like a Saturday morning cartoon rather than real life. The maps included in the game are varied enough, and there is enough things going on in the backgrounds to offer some entertainment no matter which mode you are playing. The soundtrack of Motocross Madness is nice as well and does a good job at setting the right tone for a fun party game. No matter if you're a fan of racing games or not, there's a lot to like with Motocross Madness. Chaining together combos in mid-air to earn speed boosts on your way to earning the best lap times possible is a blast, and exploring the various tracks with buddies in an Exploration session is fun in its own right. The nearly limitless amount of unlockable items for your bike and Avatar are just an added bonus. Check out Motocross Madness only on Xbox LIVE Arcade today!

Motocross Madness is now available exclusively for Xbox LIVE Arcade and can be purchased for 800 Microsoft Points. Motocross Madness is rated E by the ESRB for Fantasy Violence. For more information on Motocross Madness, check it out on the official Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
