The Night of the Rabbit (Video Game Review)

It is rare to come across a whimsical game that you enjoyed from your younger days, but The Night of the Rabbit is just that. The point-and-click adventure manages to become more intricate as the game goes on as solving one puzzle unlocks a ton more along the way. The Night of the Rabbit tells the story of a young boy named Jerry Hazelnut who has been magically transported to a gorgeous world filled with animals that have the ability to talk. We are quickly introduced to our guide, the rabbit Marquis de Soto, and the story unfolds like something out of a Alice in Wonderland novel.

Although everything may seem innocence and wholesome at first, we soon find out that dark secrets lie ahead, and a new mystery awaits us. The main objective of the game is to solve cleverly designed puzzles and interact with them by using items within your inventory or even casting a few magic spells. Players have free reign of what they do which can involve solving simple to even extremely hard puzzles. The paths taken will lead to different bits of the puzzle and how the player can put them together. Players can gather clues from dialogue with other characters or even through pure luck. The Night of the Rabbit requires the use of logic and critical thinking in order to discern how the elements of the puzzle relate to each other and how to proceed from there. This process can sometimes take awhile, as you run around talking to characters and gathering clues, before everything finally comes together. There is a sense of accomplishment when you finally solve that puzzle and can move on to the next.

Night of the Rabbit is a mentally stimulating game that offers up challenging gameplay that feels rewarding even hours after you stop playing. The emotional attachment you feel to the characters and the whimsical world of Night of the Rabbit is only enhanced through the title's colorful visuals and sound. Night of the Rabbit features visually stunning graphics that appear like something straight out of a children's storybook with rich details and design. The voice acting is superb and feels sincere which adds to the loveable nature of the game's characters. Players will spend countless hours within the game's massive world as you try take in everything it has to offer and try to gather enough clues to move forward.

Night of the Rabbit has a high level of replayability since you can always doing something differently or more efficiently the next time. Also, there are tons of minigames and audio books which add even more fun to this entertaining point-and-click adventure. Night of the Rabbit is a beautiful story that contains immersive gameplay and stunning graphics. However, if you are not a patient person or do not enjoy puzzles, then you might want to stay away from this game entirely. Players can often spend hours trying to find that next clue to solve some of the most maddening puzzles to ever appear in a video game. Although, many may like the challenge, others may despise the infuriating nature of these complex puzzles. However, in the end, Night of the Rabbit is a must-play with its brilliantly written story full of wondrous and magical characters.
