The Bunnyman Massacre revisits the same tale of Joe and Bunnyman from the original Bunnyman film that first released back in 2012. The duo are back in the new film and getting into the same hijinks as last time with Bunnyman suffering from a craving for murder that can't be satisfied and Joe using the dead bodies to make and sell jerky in his store for profit while also keeping Bunnyman out of trouble.
The team behind the film took the criticism of the original film into consideration when creating the new movie and have drastically improved the production value for the sequel. The result is a good slasher film with some funny moments that is sure to be the next cult classic horror film for the industry.
Horror fans that enjoy films for the genre for the entertainment they provide that doesn't necessarily come high quality writing and award winning acting performances will enjoy what The Bunnyman Massacre has to offer. The film has plenty of brutal murders and some fun moments of dark humor but also comes with horror cliches and unnecessary nudity and other obscene sections. In this type of horror film, there can't be some good without some bad, but luckily for viewers, The Bunnyman Massacre is a mostly entertaining ride that trumps the original in nearly every way.
One of the major reasons for the success of The Bunnyman Massacre is its main antagonists. There aren't many things in this world that are more frightening than a psycho killer in a bunny costume wielding a chainsaw or other tool of destruction. The film manages to capture the killer in plenty of good camera angles and scenarios that would give most people nightmares. It's even more disturbing for Joe to use the dead bodies to make jerky that he actually sells in his store and for viewers to think people are actually purchasing and eating the human jerky. The film isn't without a few other decent performances though including the tough as nails Sheriff Clint Baxter as portrayed by Marshal Hilton.
The Bunnyman Massacre shines with its dark humor that is top notch and scary scenes that are sure to disturb even the most adventurous horror movie fan. Some of the scenes in the film range from a massacre on a school bus full of children to a couple of victims that just won't die. Whether the film is going for laughs or scares in certain scenes, that movie succeeds more times than not. The new film looks and sounds a lot better than the original as well, and with a sequel in the works, fans can look forward to Bunnyman 3 coming soon!
