Vampire Tribunals (Video Game Review)

Clazz Games and Raincrow Studios have released their new free-to-play MMORPG entitled Vampire Tribunals for iOS devices. Vampire Tribunals lets players step out of the world of supernatural fantasy and into an even darker one that allows them to become a creature of the night. Once you become a full-on blood sucker then you will travel the world looking for your next "Sucker" or victim. Gamers can invite others to join their vampire House to strengthen it and then head out for a light snack by using the Janus Mirror. Are you ready to start your adventure? Read on.

In the game, players will assume the role of a full-blooded vampire called a damphyr and hunt during seasonal tournaments called Tribunals which last 75-90 days. You will hunt and increase your ranking during World Events which prep you for the end of the Tribunal called The Reckoning. The last event allows vampires to exert their power and dominate their competition through simple strategy elements.

However, before you can do any of this, you must create your character and take your first bite as a damphyr. In order to get started, players will need to download the game for free from the App Store and create a vampire. You will also need to make sure that you have a solid network connection and have location services turned on in order to find other vampires. Now it is time to delve into the immersive story of Vampire Tribunals that starts out with an account from John the Revelator. The story opens up like a small book on your iPad device and is 52 pages long. It was really impressive the amount of detail that was put into the game's back story, and I loved reading it before starting the actual gameplay.

Vampire Tribunals features a wide-variety of quests and challenges to complete which are divided up into categories based on their importance. For example, you start out with the major quest of "John the Revelator" where you must find a friend, in this case John, and will enter Trench Town via your Janus Mirror to locate him to further the story. In order to become a powerful vampire then you must pursue powerful friends and Drachs in order to get to the next step. Drachs are the currency used in the game and can help the player purchase cards to help protect them. When you are not online playing, then it is smart to utilize the free sanctuary to protect you from being attacked when you are offline.

The most entertaining aspect of Vampire Tribunals is the ability to hunt based on your physical location. Gamers will need to learn to utilize everything that they have at their disposal in order to survive like the Deck of Days card set. The Deck of Days is a collection of cards that increases many aspects of the game like strengthening your character and House. It is also important to strengthen your House by adding some of your friends so that your vampire unit becomes stronger while collecting gems and blood viles to aid in leveling up your character. If you ever need help in the game or updates, then just check the "News" section of the game for the latest content about the best places to hunt and more.

In the end, Vampire Tribunals is a decent game with its intriguing storyline, offbeat characters, exciting gameplay and dark visuals and sound. However, the game does suffer from a tad bit of repetitiveness until you level up your character and unlock new content. If you have been looking for a terrifying adventure into the world of the supernatural, then look no further then Vampire Tribunals.

Jackson County Fair in Scottsboro, Alabama (Event Review)

The Jackson County Fair has invaded Scottsboro, Alabama for the week of October 7-11, 2014, but the event may be a waste of money for some.  The fair was the 79th annual showing and was presented by Kissel Entertainment. The event featured rides, exhibits, games and great (yet too expensive) food for attendees at the show. Families could have enjoyed a great time at the fair grounds, but the event wasn't cheap and it didn't feature some of the more prominent attractions like one would find at larger, state fairs and carnivals. The turn out very low in Scottsboro though, and many would think that this would make it easier to enjoy the event but not even small lines could help make the Jackson County event fun. The Jackson County Fair had over a dozen rides for all age groups. The fair's massive Ferris Wheel towered high in the sky and helped light up the event, while the Moby Dick ride and Gravitron also looked fearsome and stood tall even from a distance. Plenty of ...
