World of Warships (Video Game Review)

Wargaming has always managed to showcase the realism of war games through fantastic titles like World of Tanks and World of Warplanes by bringing out the uniqueness of realistic battles through innovative gameplay. World of Warships has frankly blew the developers previous work out of the water by offering an engaging and astounding experience like never before.

At its core, World of Warships is a naval action MMO, that includes a wide range of military ships that you can use in order to engage in team versus team battles. BioGamer Girl has closely watched the progress of World of Warships over the last year and really saw where the title shined during the game’s beta, however, the title’s gameplay has evolved and expanded into a miraculously work of art with the final release. World of Warships is now more polished now, and weather conditions manage to make it even more immersive and plain extraordinary which is a major plus.

Yet the thing that will appeal the most to fans is the uniqueness of the naval battles. Gamers are completely free to devise their own strategies which is quite impressive to be honest, but at the same time you won’t have a problem changing them in the midst of the battle, because each battle is unpredictable and a ton of fun. World of Warships gives players a wide range of ship types to play with during gameplay, and these can range from cruisers to destroyers, carriers and battleships. All of them are either real or created from blueprints, so World of Warships does manage to maintain originality.

World of Warships gives fans a ton of maps to choose from, and they are all very nicely designed and non-repetitive. Players have the option to join divisions in the game, which are in a way like guilds found in most MMOs, that allow users to engage in clan wars. However, the game is still quite entertaining and immersive on your own, since you can level up, acquire currency and obtain access to new ships which adds a ton of replayability to the title. Fans will find that each battle is extraordinary because it makes players feel like they are in the midst of a WWII ship battle, and let me tell you that is a frightening place to be, that’s for sure.

Controls are tight and nicely designed in such a way that the player always has complete control over their ship. At first controls can be a little confusing because there are so many of them to learn, but overall the game does a great job when it comes to in-game tutorials to help you learn to master the game‘s mechanics quickly and efficiently. Players can actually head straight into battles right off the bat if they want. World of Warships does feature in-game currency, but gamers don’t have to worry, as the game does manage to offer you a lot of value for free. However, if you do want fancy the need to access some of the most powerful ships, you either have to purchase them, or you need to grind resources in order to acquire the results you want.

As it stands, the gameplay in World of Warships is incredibly strong and impressive, because you have so many choices to make. No matter how powerful your ship might be, it all comes down to the way you use it, and that’s what makes this title an amazing one, because you are the one in complete control over everything!

Now let’s talk about visuals, because World of Warships looks amazing, and for me it’s one of the best looking in the Wargaming series. The ship design is spectacular and the movement animations are just breathtaking, even the speed is extraordinary and realistic. At the same time, each battle is designed to offer players beautifully realistic visuals, with rockets and bullets flying everywhere. It’s the graphical fidelity that, for me, manages to add a lot of fidelity and uniqueness into the game. It’s a whole lot a of fun because of that. Sounds and music stay true to the WWII era and you can find a multitude of interesting ship sounds in World of Warships as well. Realism is definitely the key word here, and you will love the great way the WWII era is represented with World of Warships.

After many hours of playing World of Warships, I came to the conclusion that this is one of the best historical games on the market. Not only does it manages to offer you a lot of gameplay ideas, but it’s just a pleasure to play and you will love every moment that comes from doing so. It’s a whole lot of fun, while also offering the strategic depth that you want from such a game. It’s also very easy to jump into and play with the inclusion of its massive tutorial. For me, it’s the complete wargame package and the fact that you can finally have water based battles is amazing. If you haven’t checked out World of Warships then you should totally give it a shot. We experienced very little performance issues, and the game played amazingly. So what are you waiting for? Just download and play, you will not be disappointed.
