Dead Star (Video Game Review)

Armature Studio and Sony have announced the release of Dead Star for PS4. BioGamer Girl recently went hands-on with this top down, PvP shooter and here is what we thought. Read on!

Dead Star
takes players on an action-packed adventure through space in some epic 10 versus 10 multiplayer PvP battles. The gameplay in Dead Star features an over the top storyline that has teams of outlaws and scavengers fighting for survival in The Wastes. This intergalactic prison has a variation of ships, loot and immersive gameplay to keep you playing for hours on end.

The game involves exploring vast regions of outer space and capturing neutral outposts by destroying your enemy's Home Base and earning resources. Players can choose from three types of ships that includes the Scouts, Raiders and Frigates. Ships also have three alien variations: Valant, Ithid, and Estari. Depending on your playstyle, it is important to choose the correct loadout in order to ensure your team's victory, while simultaneously augmenting your ship and recycling components.

Dead Star is a fast paced title that plays almost like a MOBA in the regards you must level and upgrade your ship through five unique systems. These systems have the ability to be upgraded four times to help improve a wide variety of damage and defensive capabilities. As you progress through the game, you will have the chance to collect loot to improve your gameplay experiences.

Gamers can not only earn XP for their ship but also fame for their pilot. The fame you earn is added to your pilot level giving you more of a chance to receive a reward. There are a number of ways you can earn fame such as killing players, tactical actions, upgrading posts, guarding scrap and match bonuses. Dead Star has a lot of fun game modes like Conquest (destroy your enemy's base), Escape Run (escape the prison), and Free play (holographic simulation). There is a ton of content and stuff to do in Dead Star and definitely takes some time to get use to.

In the end, Dead Star is a good game that is visually appealing with a great storyline and fun gameplay. While the soundtrack does seem to repeat itself and doesn't provide the level of immersion that it should for this type of game, Dead Star still manages to be an overall enjoyable title. If you would like to try the game out for yourself and draw your own conclusions then download it today for free on PS4. To learn more, visit the official Dead Star website.
