Fallout 4: Automatron (DLC Review)

Bethesda Game Studios has released new DLC for Fallout 4 entitled Automatron. The DLC is the first in a series of add-ons for Fallout 4 that includes Automatron, Wasteland Workshop, and Far Harbor.

In Fallout 4: Automatron players are faced with the crisis of a horde of evil robots wreaking destruction in Commonwealth at the hands of the mysterious Mechanist. The army of robots, including the evil Robobrain, must be hunted down so you can take their parts and create your own custom robot companions.

Gamers will be able to pick from hundreds of various mods with the ability to mix limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons. One of the weapons that you can create includes the lightning chain gun which really adds a high degree of immersion to the already fun gameplay in Fallout 4. After trying out the various mods, for characters level 15 or higher, you can even customize their paint schemes and choose their voices.

The new DLC is a fantastic addition to the already addicting gameplay of Fallout 4. The ability to create your own custom robot that can be modded to your own specifications was something that any die-hard Fallout fan could appreciate. While Dogmeat was a great companion, he just didn't compare to my Clap3P0, a wonderful creation that combined some of the best elements of two of my favorite robots: Claptrap and CP30.

By utilizing the Fallout 4: Automatron robot workbench, I was able to mix-n-match scrap materials that were just lying around to create a template for my future robot army of Clap3P0s. While the Automatron DLC allows you to create your own custom companion, it isn't something that is really necessary with all the companions that already exist in Fallout 4.

Fallout 4: Automatron isn't just about creating your own custom robot companion but also features a two hour quest that leads you to a distressed robotic companion by the name of Ada. The Mechanist's robot army has destroyed all of Ada's friends and you are tasked with venturing across new areas where you will pick up some cool new weapons and armor along the way.

In the end, Fallout 4: Automatron is a great DLC pack that gives gamers some fun robot-themed content to explore and enjoy. I greatly enjoyed creating my new robot companion Clap3P0 and can't wait to take him on all kinds of new adventures throughout Commonwealth.

Buffet Bliss or Southern Swing-and-a-Miss? A Bite at Kacey’s in Huntsville

Walk through the doors of Kacey’s Country Cooking in Huntsville and you’re greeted by the comforting smell of fried chicken, collard greens, and cornbread that could double as perfume for any true Southerner. This is where the buffet line reigns supreme, the sweet tea flows endlessly, and dessert is always just an arm’s reach away. For many locals, Kacey’s is a comfort food paradise. Fans brag about the fried green tomatoes, juicy pork chops, slow-cooked beef tips, and banana pudding that deserves its own holiday. The staff are another highlight—quick with refills, friendly enough to feel like family, and the kind of people who can make a buffet feel like Sunday dinner at grandma’s. But Kacey’s has its critics too. Some diners rave about “the best bang for your buck in town,” while others complain that the food sometimes veers into “straight-from-the-can” territory. Like most buffets, it’s a roll of the dice: hit the line on a good day and you’ll be full and happy; catch it on an...

Step Back in Time at Ole Towne Café in Ardmore

If you’ve ever wished you could step into your grandma’s kitchen and smell fresh biscuits baking while bacon sizzles in the skillet, Ole Towne Café in Ardmore, Alabama, is the next best thing. Tucked along Main Street, this little diner doesn’t just serve food—it serves nostalgia. Walking in, you’re greeted with that small-town charm you just can’t fake. The walls are lined with country décor, the coffee flows like a friendly neighbor’s gossip, and everyone seems to know everyone else. Even if you’re new in town, you’ll feel like family after your first cup of coffee. The menu is straight out of a Southern comfort cookbook. The catfish plates are fried to crispy perfection, the hamburger steaks come smothered in gravy that tastes like Sunday supper, and the breakfast plates are legendary—big fluffy pancakes, biscuits as big as your hand, and hash browns that come golden and crispy.
