Dead Rising Triple Pack (Video Game Review)

Capcom has released the new Dead Rising Triple Pack for PS4 and Xbox One.

Gamers can get ready to fire up their chainsaws and break out their favorite costume because the Dead Rising Triple Pack has arrived. The triple pack includes the HD re-releases of Dead Rising, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record.

The new bundle pack is to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the incredibly popular Dead Rising series by breathing a little life back into the classic titles on Xbox One and PS4. The releases have been re-mastered in 1080p resolution at 60 fps so gamers can take in all of the vividly visceral zombie action and open-world craziness. The new versions for Xbox One and PS4 also gives gamers all of the additional DLC costumes to allow you to kill zombies in style!

The Dead Rising Triple Pack contains all of the same beloved gameplay, characters and stories that you originally loved with the only improvements being the enhanced visuals and audio.

Capcom released the original Dead Rising in 2006 and it centered around photojournalist Frank West. Frank becomes trapped inside the fictional town of Willamette, Colorado and tries to survive the zombie apocalypse inside of a mall. In order to survive, Frank must build his own weapons and find clues to uncover the truth behind the incident. Gamers not only had to survive hordes of the undead, but also crazed psychopaths, while trying to help as many survivors as they could. In the Dead Rising series, players are tasked with completing Case Files missions to advance the storyline and learn the real cause of the outbreak. However, the player only has three days to find the answer, before they are retrieved by a helicopter.

Dead Rising 2 takes place in a fictional casino in Fortune City, Nevada almost five years after the initial incident. Players now assume the role of a former motocross champion by the name of Chuck Greene. Chuck's story is totally different than that of Frank's, since he has been accused of starting the outbreak in Fortune City, and is trying to clear his name. Chuck not only has to try to unearth answers to who really started the outbreak, but he must try to keep his infected daughter from turning by giving her Zombrex. Once again players are able to craft weapons, put together killer outfits, save survivors, battle psychopaths and zombies alongside the added task of finding Zombrex for Katey. Chuck ends up teaming up with a reporter by the name of Rebecca and offers her the story of a lifetime if she helps him uncover the truth. The best new addition in Dead Rising 2  from the original game was the new co-op mode allowing you the ability to have a friend join your game to help fight off the undead.

Now with Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, gamers have the same overall content they saw in Dead Rising 2,  but with the main character being Frank West. The changing of the main character also changes the plot of the game in regards to motives. Frank became famous after under covering the truth behind the original outbreak but that has slowly waned over the years due to scandals. In order to try to regain his place in the spotlight, Frank accepts an offer from TK to be a special guest on the zombie killing show "Terror is Reality" in Fortune City. And this is when Frank's story takes an unenviable twist that leads him down the road of once again trying to uncover the mysteries of another zombie outbreak.

All of the games had hundreds of weapons for players to put together alongside costumes placed all around the map. Players where able to gain PP or experience points by killing enemies like zombies and psychopaths and saving survivors. There was also the addition of the camera element that allowed gamers to take hilarious photos of zombie kills, capture clues and so forth. Depending on how you played, there were also multiple endings in the series which added a great deal of replayability to the game.

In the end, the Dead Rising Triple Pack  brings three incredible titles to current-gen consoles with improved visuals, audio and frame rates. The games look and play fantastically on Xbox One and PS4. If you are new to the series, then the Dead Rising Triple Pack is the perfect way to experience the action-packed franchise.
