The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - A New Frontier Review

Telltale Games has released the The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - A New Frontier.

A New Frontier accesses Ties That Bind' Part I & Part II and takes gamers into a brand new story for The Walking Dead. Players step into the shoes of Javier who is trying to protect his family after the undead have destroyed much of the world. Javier soon meets a young girl named Clementine who has experienced more loss than he could imagine.

Clementine and Javier realize that their fates are bound and must team up to stay alive in a world where every choice could be your last. The Walking Dead: A New Frontier is a great series for players just starting out and a great adventure for those who have been playing the entire time. The story's enjoyment doesn't depend on the past seasons and players can only control Clementine in her flashback episodes.

It is understandable that Telltale wanted to branch out and have players control someone else in the game's story outside of Clementine. This is why former professional baseball player, Javier Garcia, is our new protagonist. He now is responsible for the protection of his family that consists of his brother's second wife Kate and her two teenage stepchildren.

When Javier and his family reach a station packed full of items they could use--the real problems then start to occur. We also find out that Javier's sister-in-law has some issues with her stepchildren. You soon meet up with Clementine and make your way to a camp where you meet Dr. Eleanor. As with every story in The Walking Dead, you soon face some difficult decisions that cause you to be separated from your group, and some dramatic content that pushes everyone toward Richmond, Virginia.

The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - A New Frontier seems like almost a reboot of the series. The story also gives players a glimpse of how the past seasons have shaped Clementine into the person she is today. The overall story and presentation of A New Frontier alongside the great characterization helps players once again enjoy the horror adventure at hand.

The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - A New Frontier Episode One: 'Ties That Bind' Part I is rated 'M' (Mature) for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, and Use of Drugs by the ESRB. Episode Two: 'Ties That Bind' Part II is rated 'M' (Mature) for Violence, Blood and Gore, Drug Reference, and Strong Language by the ESRB. Future content in the season is yet to be rated. The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - A New Frontier is available for Xbox One, PS4, PC, iOS and Android.

The demo covers your first four days on the job, teaching the systems while nudging you toward choices, obey protocol and keep the peace, or pry at the seams and uncover the post office’s darker purpose. Either way, those first shifts are a careful, uncanny invitat...
