Game of Thrones Fans Should Be Pumped for These Upcoming Shows

If you are a Game of Thrones fan, we have several upcoming shows that you will love!

Well, it's done. It's over. One of the biggest television events in history has come to a close. The reactions to how
Game of Thrones ended, though, are...well mild is putting it lightly. Many of the fans online seem displeased with the season, but HBO execs seem to be happy with the conclusion.

Whether you enjoyed the end or not, you'll need something new to fill your time now that Game of Thrones - for the time being - is finished.  Luckily, there are several shows coming down the pipeline that will fill your action-fantasy appetites.

This is the must-see show for fans of Game of Thrones' dark, gritty, and bloody story. Based on the novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, the show stars Henry Cavill as lead character Geralt the White Wolf.  The show already shows promise. Lauren Hissrich, the showrunner, has worked on previous titles on Netflix like Daredevil and The Umbrella Academy - some of the top shows on the platform.  The Witcher will have the same dark character arcs and moral ambiguities. But, if it's anything like the books, it promises to have plenty of grotesque monsters as well.

The Witcher
premieres later this year on Netflix.

The Lord of the Rings - Amazon
The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien is considered the grandfather of all modern fantasy. Everything about the tropes and clichés of the genre largely permeate from this work. The saga has been adapted several times, but most notably by Peter Jackson in the early 2000s.  However, Amazon is bringing the saga back to the small screen, though not in the way you might expect. Amazon's show will actually be a prequel saga, focusing on a major conflict thousands of years before the events of the books. While it is sure to be epic, the show is still a ways out. Rumors suggest it will start filming this Augustso it will be well into 2021 before the first episode airs.

His Dark Materials - HBO
If you really aren't ready to give up on HBO's Game of Thrones, there are other ways to enjoy the saga. The books are different enough to still be thrilling, and they have also received several video game adaptations in the past several years. You may even be able to find the online slot based on the show at some of the best real money casinos for Canadians. There are plenty of options for online casinos, and many of them even offer welcome bonuses for new players. If you're ready to move on, though, but still want to stay within HBO's wheelhouse, His Dark Materials is the show for you.

Based on the books by Phillip Pullman, His Dark Materials is set in an alternate world filled with magic, intrique, kidnapping, and controlling theocracies. It's just right for those of you looking to sate that Game of Thrones dreariness with mild touches of magic. The show is also star-studded, particularly with James McAvoy in a lead role. The show is just around the corner too, though HBO still says it is "coming soon."

There are plenty of other great fantasy shows out there for Game of Thrones fans, but these are some of the newest and most exciting on the horizon.
