Top DOTA 2 Tournaments in 2020 and What’s Left in 2019

The Dota Pro Circuit is one of the most popular eSport tours in the world. In case you didn’t realize, Dota 2 has been the king of eSports revenue for years. Fortnite is the first game to pass Dota 2 in total yearly revenue. But no single tournament is as big as The International – which took place in August.

There are still two major tournaments left in 2019: the MDL Chengdu Major and ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational. Top online betting sites will all have odds, so check this Bovada review to make sure you are seeing the best odds on the events.

MDL Chengdu Major | November

The Chengdu Major will take place from November 16th through the 24th. Mars Media’s flagship tournament has a fat prize pool of 980,000 US dollars. This tournament is extremely important because it counts for DPC qualification points towards The International 2020.

Regional qualifiers will decide the 15 participating teams, with two (at least) from each region. The format is set up with two groups and the best of three games. The top two and bottom two teams advance to the upper and lower playoff brackets. Once in the playoffs the format changes to double-elimination. Round one of the lower brackets is the best of one. However, all other games are still the best of three formats, except for the Grand Finals, which are best of five.

ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore | December

Twelve of the world’s best teams will collide on December 17th in the PGL and ONE Esports joint in Singapore. The six-day series holds a prize pool of $500,000 US. The top team takes home $200k, runnerup gets $100K, 3rd gets $60K, 4th takes home $50K, 5th, $30K, and 6th, $20k. 7th and 8th place each get 10 grand, while 9th and 10th place still walk away with 5 grand each. The event is almost 3 months away but we already have seven of the participants locked in with direct invites. The other five are still yet to be determined.

World Pro Invitational Invitees:

● Evil Geniuses
● Natus Vincere
● Vici Gaming
TNC Predator
● Virtus.pro
● PSG.LGD
● Team Secret

The competition will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium with the group stages running from Dec 17th through 19th and the playoffs from the 20th through 22nd.

Top Events in 2020

The International

The big daddy of them all will be The International, put on by Valve in Stockholm, Sweden. Just like in 2019 qualification will be on a points-based system acquired by participating and placing well in the officially sponsored Majors and Minors leading up to the event. The above mentioned MDL Chengdu Major is a perfect example.

The rest of the 2019-2020 events have yet to be finalized but we do know the schedule:

Date Event Type DPC

Jackson County Fair in Scottsboro, Alabama (Event Review)

The Jackson County Fair has invaded Scottsboro, Alabama for the week of October 7-11, 2014, but the event may be a waste of money for some.  The fair was the 79th annual showing and was presented by Kissel Entertainment. The event featured rides, exhibits, games and great (yet too expensive) food for attendees at the show. Families could have enjoyed a great time at the fair grounds, but the event wasn't cheap and it didn't feature some of the more prominent attractions like one would find at larger, state fairs and carnivals. The turn out very low in Scottsboro though, and many would think that this would make it easier to enjoy the event but not even small lines could help make the Jackson County event fun. The Jackson County Fair had over a dozen rides for all age groups. The fair's massive Ferris Wheel towered high in the sky and helped light up the event, while the Moby Dick ride and Gravitron also looked fearsome and stood tall even from a distance. Plenty of ...
