Five Great Mobile Games for Making New Friends

The digital age has opened magnificent opportunities for meeting and interacting with new people.

Social media allows you to target specific interests and join groups of like-minded people to make new friends. From the comfort of your own home you can become involved in discussions, debates and friendly chatter with people on the other side of the world. Statista estimates that mobile users will spend 234 minutes of their day on their devices by 2021, meaning the need to interact with others whilst doing so in on the increase.

Meeting new people, even online, is not always easy. Sometimes, rather than instigating conversation, it is easier to let it develop whilst taking part in activities or games. There are plenty of games which promote social interaction, some of which are great fun as well.

We’ve put together a list of five worth trying if you’re looking to meet new people online in an environment without pressure or expectation.

Words with Friends

Words with Friends is about much more than simply playing with existing friends, it’s a great way to meet new players as well. It’s a derivative of the classic board game Scrabble, with players taking turns to play words on a board, looking to exploit various bonus spots to multiply scores.

You can link with people you know, but for lone players there’s a matching system which allows you to play people you don’t know. With a handy chat function too, you’ll soon be pitting your mind against players around the world and making new friends.

Zynga Poker

Zynga, the makers of Words with Friends and the wildly popular Farmville, delivered a great poker experience with their release Zynga Poker. It’s free to play and is available through social media site Facebook as well as Android and Apple.

You’ll soon be meeting new people around the table and a recent addition includes a poker-themed prize wheel which has created an additional buzz to an old format.

Call of Duty

The Call of Duty franchise is one of the most popular on regular consoles, with millions of players competing across many different titles. The current title, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare, was released in October 2019 and was still the top-selling console game in February 2020.

The franchise has now arrived on your portable devices with Call of Duty Mobile. It’s another way to connect with gamers across the globe, delivering the classic Battle Royale and Head to Head battles seen on the consoles. Call of Duty has been bringing gamers together for many years and it’s a great way to meet new people, even if you are launching grenades at them.

PPPoker

Poker in its real form is very social, with players sitting around a table looking to read each other and interact for clues as to the hands they’re facing. Online, reading people is not quite as easy, but the social aspect of poker is hugely important.

That’s why PPPoker is a great app for meeting new people. It’s currently incredibly popular, with Cardplayer explaining how the PPPoker app has clocked several million downloads to date. Each of those downloads is a potential new player for you to find and interact with. There’s a range of refreshing social options on the platform and even the chance to qualify for real tournaments held in different locations around the world.

Unkilled

The first-person shooter genre has become a juggernaut of the console world and Unkilled is further proof that it ports over to mobile just as well. The game has been downloaded by more than 110 million players around the world and as it offers PvP and cooperation action, it is a great place to meet new, like-minded people.

There are over 150 missions in apocalyptic New York City, packed with zombies and challenges for players to meet head-on in teams of five. You’ll soon be bonding with total strangers over an engrossing campaign, before checking out the other game modes.
