90 Days to a Healthier, Happier, Hotter YOU - Day Seven: Healthy Dental Care

Just coming out of a pandemic, it is very important to take good care of yourself, and that means you need to have a proper daily dental care routine. Did you know you should keep track of your dental care? Not caring for your dental health can impact not only your teeth and gums but your overall health. Poor dental health can lead to cavities, gum disease, cardiovascular diseases and endocarditis. The very first step is to contact your local dentist and get a check-up!

You should use a soft toothbrush and brush your teeth and gums at least twice a day. It is best to brush after every meal or when your mouth comes in contact with food. The acids left behind from foods are what cause cavities. You should use a circular motion with a 45-degree angle to the gum line. You should also clean your tongue by brushing from the back to the front. After you have brushed for at least three minutes, then rinse your mouth with mouthwash. Make sure you purchase a new toothbrush every 4 months or so.

The next step is to floss your teeth at least once a day. The point of flossing is to rid the teeth of food in between your teeth where the toothbrush can't reach. Remove an 18-inch strip of floss from its container. You will leave 1-inch section to floss and wind the rest between your middle fingers of each hand. Use your index finger to push the floss between the teeth then move the floss up and down. You will wind the floss around your fingers and use a clean section of floss as needed. Brushing and flossing your teeth is one of the simplest ways to stay healthy!

Some snacks that lead to tooth decay are sugary foods such as candies, cookies, cakes, raisins and so forth. It is best to eat the smallest number of sugary foods to remain healthy. If you have yellowing or discoloration on your teeth, then you can try an at home whitening kit like Hismile.  A dental whitening kit is identical to skincare but for your mouth. Having a bright and beautiful smile helps with your self-esteem and confidence. But if you do not have the best smile, and you can't afford the dentist, then another option for beautiful white teeth is with Pop On Veneers. These are just a vanity purchase but can help those struggling with the look of their current teeth.
