Recipe: Pumpkin Spice Bacon-Wrapped Turkey Roll

Ingredients:
- 1 boneless turkey breast
- 8 slices of bacon
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh sage leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking sheet.

2. Lay the boneless turkey breast flat on a cutting board. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

3. In a small bowl, mix together the pumpkin puree, maple syrup, and pumpkin pie spice until well combined.

4. Spread the pumpkin mixture evenly over one side of the turkey breast.

5. Starting from one end, tightly roll up the turkey breast, making sure the pumpkin filling is enclosed inside.

6. Lay the bacon slices side by side on the cutting board, slightly overlapping. Place the rolled turkey breast on top of the bacon.

7. Carefully wrap the bacon slices around the turkey roll, securing the bacon with toothpicks if needed.

8. Transfer the bacon-wrapped turkey roll onto the prepared baking sheet, seam side down.

9. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) when measured with a meat thermometer.

10. Once cooked, remove the turkey roll from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.

11. Optional: Garnish the sliced turkey roll with fresh sage leaves for an extra touch of flavor.

Jackson County Fair in Scottsboro, Alabama (Event Review)

The Jackson County Fair has invaded Scottsboro, Alabama for the week of October 7-11, 2014, but the event may be a waste of money for some.  The fair was the 79th annual showing and was presented by Kissel Entertainment. The event featured rides, exhibits, games and great (yet too expensive) food for attendees at the show. Families could have enjoyed a great time at the fair grounds, but the event wasn't cheap and it didn't feature some of the more prominent attractions like one would find at larger, state fairs and carnivals. The turn out very low in Scottsboro though, and many would think that this would make it easier to enjoy the event but not even small lines could help make the Jackson County event fun.
