Table Decorating Contest and Hall Access

Ticket holders are invited to transform their tables into period‑perfect tableaux reflecting Medieval or Renaissance themes. The Feast Hall will be open for decorating at the following times so you can plan, assemble, and perfect your place setting:

October 17, 2025 - 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

October 18, 2025 - 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

This year’s royal motif is Tudor England, but creativity from any historically appropriate era (1100–1650 A.D.) is warmly welcomed. The Monarch will award the most inspired place setting by selecting a favorite table; the winning team will receive two complimentary tickets to next year’s Feast. Come prepared with linens, centerpieces, props, and period details to bring your corner of the hall to life.

The Choosing of the Monarch

Any attendee aged 18 or older may vie to become the Monarch of the 2026 Alabama Renaissance Faire:

How to enter: Raise your hand to receive a Choosing Ticket, exchange it for a Tudor Rose cookie, and hope to discover the hidden token baked into your cookie.

Title and preparation: The chosen individual will be named Monarch of the Kingdom of Firenze and will collaborate with the Board of Directors to build a historically grounded persona, wardrobe, and program of appearances.

Duties and commitment: Monarch responsibilities include public appearances, leading processions, holding court at Faire events, delivering the welcome and dismissal addresses, and participating in the abdication ceremony; the Board will support planning and logistics, but the Monarch funds personal costume and travel expenses and must receive Board approval.

Governance: The Board reserves the right to appoint a regent or replace a Monarch if they are unable or unwilling to fulfill royal duties.

How to Join and Support

Buffet Bliss or Southern Swing-and-a-Miss? A Bite at Kacey’s in Huntsville

Walk through the doors of Kacey’s Country Cooking in Huntsville and you’re greeted by the comforting smell of fried chicken, collard greens, and cornbread that could double as perfume for any true Southerner. This is where the buffet line reigns supreme, the sweet tea flows endlessly, and dessert is always just an arm’s reach away. For many locals, Kacey’s is a comfort food paradise. Fans brag about the fried green tomatoes, juicy pork chops, slow-cooked beef tips, and banana pudding that deserves its own holiday. The staff are another highlight—quick with refills, friendly enough to feel like family, and the kind of people who can make a buffet feel like Sunday dinner at grandma’s. But Kacey’s has its critics too. Some diners rave about “the best bang for your buck in town,” while others complain that the food sometimes veers into “straight-from-the-can” territory. Like most buffets, it’s a roll of the dice: hit the line on a good day and you’ll be full and happy; catch it on an...
