90 Days to a Healthier, Happier, Hotter YOU - Day One: Organization

It is almost a new year and with that comes new resolutions. You may wish to eat healthier, go to the gym more or even learn a new skill. In this 90-day transformation program that we call the 3-H Plan, we will help you start the new year with a bang with a healthier, happier, and hotter YOU! For the next 90 days, we will give you the steps to become the person you have always dreamed of, and we will be completing the process right alongside you. The first step is organization.

Did you know just setting in a cluttered room can cause you stress? In order for the 3-H Plan to work, you must declutter your life. Organization not only saves you time and money but also helps you create a tranquil space to release stress. Feng shui is a Chinese discipline says that a well-ordered home environment can lead to a better fortune in other areas of your life.

According to a recent online survey, 84% of Americans stress that their home isn't clean or organized enough. Clutter increases anxiety and decreases productivity. In order to take care of any psychological clutter you might have; you must start with the physical clutter that surrounds you. The first step is to break parts of the house off into manageable bits by starting with each space and slowly removing the clutter.

You can easily get plastic containers and storage accessories at the Dollar Tree if you are on a budget. If something doesn't bring you peace or joy, throw it out or donate it! As you organize your home, start to clear out space for a meditation room. We will go over meditation at a later date, but now is the time to get your space ready for it. Meditation can help improve your focus and help you center your core.

While shopping for your organizational accessories, make sure to stock up on notebooks. You will use a notebook to keep track of your daily progress and to mark off completed tasks. You will also you this as a psychological tool to write down your daily thoughts and actions to try to see where all of your stress stems from. You can either use your meditation room to write or create your very own safe space. This could be in your home or be anywhere that helps you visualize your feelings to write them down.

Time management is crucial to achieve proper organization. Allot a certain time each day to organizing and decluttering your closet to start. You can organize your clothes and shoes first. You can then sell your used items on ThredUp, Poshmark, Tradesy, The RealReal, or Mercari. Or you can donate them to your local Goodwill. Repeat this process for each area of your house, remembering that if it doesn't bring you peace or joy then get rid of it! Remember organization doesn't end with your home. You must also declutter your digital self too. Maybe it's time to get a new email, get rid of old social profiles, cancel unused subscriptions and the list goes on! Keep yourself motivated by giving yourself treats or listening to your favorite music or podcast.

Document everything! Take before and after photos to see the progress you have made and text it to a friend! You can even have a friend join you in the 3H-Plan to have an accountability partner to help keep you motivated.

You have 90 days to declutter your life starting now!

Jackson County Fair in Scottsboro, Alabama (Event Review)

The Jackson County Fair has invaded Scottsboro, Alabama for the week of October 7-11, 2014, but the event may be a waste of money for some.  The fair was the 79th annual showing and was presented by Kissel Entertainment. The event featured rides, exhibits, games and great (yet too expensive) food for attendees at the show. Families could have enjoyed a great time at the fair grounds, but the event wasn't cheap and it didn't feature some of the more prominent attractions like one would find at larger, state fairs and carnivals. The turn out very low in Scottsboro though, and many would think that this would make it easier to enjoy the event but not even small lines could help make the Jackson County event fun. The Jackson County Fair had over a dozen rides for all age groups. The fair's massive Ferris Wheel towered high in the sky and helped light up the event, while the Moby Dick ride and Gravitron also looked fearsome and stood tall even from a distance. Plenty of ...
