AR Defender 2 (Video Game Review)

Developer BulkyPix and publisher int13 have announced the release of their all new title AR Defender 2. The new release is the sequel to the original AR Defender that released this time last year. AR Defender 2 has some new tricks up its sleeves this time around, to the point the developers are asking you forget about the old title and simply pick up the new release, but the core gameplay remains the same. Building defenses around a central tower is key all while dangerous enemies will stop at nothing to bring down the tower in classic tower defense style. Many customization options exist in AR Defenders 2 to switch up the action, and of course, the actual environment around the player can be brought to life in-game for the most unique battlefields around!

AR Defenders 2 features 6 different heroes and 9 different towers that each have their own unique traits and special abilities to help destroy the waves of enemies before losing the tower. Toasting enemies with a flamethrowers, calling in an aerial strike to rain down destruction on threats or even hacking enemy troops to fight for the hero's side is all possible in AR Defenders 2. Of course, there are plenty of enemies including brand new troops in the recent release from lowly drone robots to enemy tanks and more. The action is fast paced, unrelenting and is as an addicting of a tower defense game as you'll find on any platform, and the flexibility and accessibility of iOS and Android mean you can try out the game for free on your mobile device no matter where you are.

When you first load up the game, you'll notice AR Defender 2 features two ways to play: single player and cooperative multiplayer for up to four players via Wi-Fi connection. The single player campaign spans 40 levels across 4 virtual worlds each with their own themes and special enemy types. Meanwhile, AR Defender 2 offers one of the best experiences around with four player cooperative matches that allows you and your friends to join forces together in a single match to take on the enemy hordes. Connecting is simple and streamlined, and the game offers the rare multiplayer cooperative tower defense gameplay that few other titles offer up. A little more variety in game modes and options would've been ideal in AR Defender 2, but as it stands, the game is still a good value as a free download, and it's a lot of fun to play, especially with friends

Of course, it wouldn't be AR Defender 2 without some augmented reality play, and that's just what you'll find in the game with the assistance of a quick printout from the official AR Defender 2 website. With the help of this handy little accessory, you can bring the contents of your desk or floor into the game to create unique battlefields giving the game unlimited stages beyond the original 40 included with the game. At anytime during a match, the augmented reality can be switched off in favor of a typical stage from the game. The game's graphics aren't terribly impressive, and some of the more hectic gunfights can make it difficult to track the action, but a fun soundtrack helps bolster the game's presentation and immerse you in the action. You'll want to pick up a copy of AR Defenders 2, because it is free, but you'll continue playing the game for hours, because it's a fun title that's difficult to put down once you've started playing. The game just adds more replay value once you start shooting for the highest scores on the game's leaderboards, so check out AR Defenders 2 on your mobile device today!

Buffet Bliss or Southern Swing-and-a-Miss? A Bite at Kacey’s in Huntsville

Walk through the doors of Kacey’s Country Cooking in Huntsville and you’re greeted by the comforting smell of fried chicken, collard greens, and cornbread that could double as perfume for any true Southerner. This is where the buffet line reigns supreme, the sweet tea flows endlessly, and dessert is always just an arm’s reach away. For many locals, Kacey’s is a comfort food paradise. Fans brag about the fried green tomatoes, juicy pork chops, slow-cooked beef tips, and banana pudding that deserves its own holiday. The staff are another highlight—quick with refills, friendly enough to feel like family, and the kind of people who can make a buffet feel like Sunday dinner at grandma’s. But Kacey’s has its critics too. Some diners rave about “the best bang for your buck in town,” while others complain that the food sometimes veers into “straight-from-the-can” territory. Like most buffets, it’s a roll of the dice: hit the line on a good day and you’ll be full and happy; catch it on an...

Step Back in Time at Ole Towne Café in Ardmore

If you’ve ever wished you could step into your grandma’s kitchen and smell fresh biscuits baking while bacon sizzles in the skillet, Ole Towne Café in Ardmore, Alabama, is the next best thing. Tucked along Main Street, this little diner doesn’t just serve food—it serves nostalgia. Walking in, you’re greeted with that small-town charm you just can’t fake. The walls are lined with country décor, the coffee flows like a friendly neighbor’s gossip, and everyone seems to know everyone else. Even if you’re new in town, you’ll feel like family after your first cup of coffee. The menu is straight out of a Southern comfort cookbook. The catfish plates are fried to crispy perfection, the hamburger steaks come smothered in gravy that tastes like Sunday supper, and the breakfast plates are legendary—big fluffy pancakes, biscuits as big as your hand, and hash browns that come golden and crispy.
