Thunder Wolves (Video Game Review)

Thunder Wolves is one of the newest downloadable titles available for PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE Arcade and PC on Steam. The game allows players to take over a military helicopter to complete a variety of objectives and missions while saving the day and smarting off at the mouth with your virtual bros. Developer Most Wanted Entertainment and publisher bitComposer Games know that gamers are busy like everyone else, and busy gamers will be pleased to learn Thunder Wolves packs as much excitement and entertainment into a relatively short campaign to get players the most bang for their buck and time. Thunder Wolves is a fun game and one that gamers should check out for a fun, albeit quick, ride at a cost that is lower than most games on PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade.

Old school action provides the meat and potatoes of Thunder Wolves, but there is still a storyline thrown in beyond simply completing consecutive objectives. Players begin as a new member of the Thunder Wolves elite military group the game is named for and begin earning the spot in the group automatically, as the game immediately thrusts the player into missions. The typical cast of characters are here including the calm and collected radio contact that calls out new mission objectives and other important details and the wise cracking partner that is always competing for bragging rights with the player. The game itself takes the player to 4 unique locations around the world to complete 13 unique missions with plenty of objectives, giving the player only a few hours of content in a single playthrough.

Thunder Wolves isn't a game that focuses on realism but instead gives players an action-packed arcade style that is sure to resonate with many gamers. Missions award points and a star rating upon completion based on enemies killed and how fast the stage was completed, and objectives pop up in a stylish fashion that keeps players concentrating on the task at hand and quickly moving on to the next after a rewarding notification has occurred. Missions feature plenty of different objectives including destroying enemy troops, protecting the Thunder Wolves' own, stealthily entering enemy terrain and having epic boss battles with evenly matched enemy choppers. The terrorists can't win, but they can definitely explode!

In addition to the 13-mission long campaign, Thunder Wolves includes 9 different, unlockable helicopters that each have their own statistical strengths and weaknesses. The helicopters in the game are heavily armed with the types of weapons you'd expect including regular missiles, homing, heavy machine guns and more. The controls of the game have a slight learning curve, but there are a few layouts to choose from if the default aren't to your liking. The game also allows you to invite your buddy over for some couch cooperative play where one player takes control of the aircraft as the pilot and one mans the machine gun to lay down some heavy fire on air and ground troops. Either way you play, Thunder Wolves is a lot of fun, even if it is short lived.

Thunder Wolves is an alright looking game; you won't be blown away by the game's incredible graphics, but they look fine for a downloadable game and explosions are always fun either way, and the game is filled with those. Colorful sprites, menus and notifications help make the game a better experience, though the storyline is made a bit worse with poor voice acting. Most of the game's dialogue happens before the mission, and any jabber during missions is blurted out over heavy gunfire and explosion, so be ready to read some subtitles. All in all, Thunder Wolves offers a solid presentation that is fun in single player but offers lesser replay value with no online multiplayer or variety in game modes. Thunder Wolves will only set players back 800 Microsoft Points though and is a good value for the price. Check out Thunder Wolves on PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE Arcade and Steam today!

Thunder Wolves is now available for PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE Arcade and PC and can be purchased for 800 Microsoft Points or $9.99. Thunder Wolves is rated M by the ESRB for Blood, Language & Violence. For more information on the game, check out the official Thunder Wolves website.

Letter Lost: Postmarked Secrets - A cozy post office that hides rules and a deeper mystery. (Demo Preview)

Letter Lost drops you into the Kharnym Isle Post Office as its sole employee, tasked with the deceptively simple work of stamping, sorting, and dispatching the island’s mail. On the surface it’s a cozy workplace sim; polite locals, daily pay, and mandatory room and board that removes the hassle of commuting, but the office’s cheery routine is threaded with odd rules and quiet contradictions that quickly make the ordinary feel off‑kilter. What begins as a satisfying loop of weighing parcels and matching stamps soon becomes a game of attention: letters hide hints, patrons’ small talk slips into unsettling confessions, and management’s insistence that you never leave the premises reads less like policy and more like a warning. The demo covers your first four days on the job, teaching the systems while nudging you toward choices, obey protocol and keep the peace, or pry at the seams and uncover the post office’s darker purpose. Either way, those first shifts are a careful, uncanny invitat...

550 Geese Killed at the Request of an HOA — And the Question We Can’t Ignore

In Madison, Alabama, more than 550 geese were captured and killed in a single coordinated operation carried out by USDA Wildlife Services at the request of a homeowners association. What was described as a “population control effort” has ignited a deeper and far more uncomfortable conversation: When did wildlife become something we simply remove when it becomes inconvenient? According to reports from the Heritage Plantation HOA, the geese population had grown to levels they claimed were “five times” what was considered sustainable for the area. The association said it had spent years attempting non-lethal methods, including deterrents and egg management strategies, before ultimately requesting a full-scale cull approved under federal wildlife guidelines. Nine USDA agents carried out the operation. Within a single night, hundreds of birds that had been living, nesting, and raising young in the community were gone. The HOA cited concerns about sanitation, water quality, and public health...
