Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Firestorm (Book Review)

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Firestorm is a new novel from Mississippi born author Greg Keyes based on the upcoming film of the same name starring Andy Serkis as the main ape named Caesar. Rather than producing a movie novelization that copies the majority of the film on paper, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Firestorm offers a prequel tale for the Summer 2014 film. The book features all of the same characters from the film and focuses on all of them at different times throughout the new storyline. The book is a good read and offers fans a chance to learn more about the characters of the upcoming film before it arrives in June.

The early parts of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Firestorm introduces the characters David Flynn and his girlfriend Clancy, and the first few chapters of the book focus largely on developing the pair's relationship while setting some important plot points that will move the book forward. The story isn't just about the humans though, so it's not long before Caesar and many of the other apes begin playing major roles in the book, and a series of events begin coming into motion that will lead to the start of the upcoming film. Along the way, some of the characters from the film are introduced, so fans will get back stories for some of them that will help better understand motives in the film as well.

One good thing about Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Firestorm is that fans don't really need to know anything about the Planet of the Apes series to have a good time reading the new novel. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Firestorm is the twentieth published novel for Greg Keyes that includes releases for the Star War universe and other similar fantasy and science fiction genres. The author manages to create some really believable characters for his new book while accurately portraying the already established characters from the film series. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Firestorm is one of Keyes' best works and could end up being better than the film in a lot of readers' eyes.

Fans wanting to see the next chapter in the Planet of the Apes series will have to wait until June to see the new film, but Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Firestorm offers a great storyline that is a good read even for those that haven't seen a single film from the franchise. Greg Keyes sets a great ominous tone for the heroes from the early pages of the story, and the ending doesn't disappoint, while it also sets up the beginning of the film perfectly. The science fiction work is one of the best stories to ever contain the name Planet of the Apes. Check out Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Firestorm from Titan Books today and look for the release of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes this Summer.

Buffet Bliss or Southern Swing-and-a-Miss? A Bite at Kacey’s in Huntsville

Walk through the doors of Kacey’s Country Cooking in Huntsville and you’re greeted by the comforting smell of fried chicken, collard greens, and cornbread that could double as perfume for any true Southerner. This is where the buffet line reigns supreme, the sweet tea flows endlessly, and dessert is always just an arm’s reach away. For many locals, Kacey’s is a comfort food paradise. Fans brag about the fried green tomatoes, juicy pork chops, slow-cooked beef tips, and banana pudding that deserves its own holiday. The staff are another highlight—quick with refills, friendly enough to feel like family, and the kind of people who can make a buffet feel like Sunday dinner at grandma’s. But Kacey’s has its critics too. Some diners rave about “the best bang for your buck in town,” while others complain that the food sometimes veers into “straight-from-the-can” territory. Like most buffets, it’s a roll of the dice: hit the line on a good day and you’ll be full and happy; catch it on an...
