Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha is a new DLC made exclusively for Dead Rising 3 on Xbox One. Capcom has been known to release a number of sequels and remakes with some pretty extravagant names over the years, but this new release satires the idea with all new gameplay that is completely new for the Dead Rising series. Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha is over the top silly and pretty fun as well. Fans that enjoyed the lighthearted antics featured in the earlier games in the series will find Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha to be much more enjoyable when compared with the often dark and serious tones present in the main campaign of Dead Rising 3.

Fans shouldn't expect much of a storyline with Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha. Players are immediately thrust into an old school inspired arcade game with many of the same items, powerups and costumes from other games in the Capcom library. The game offers no reason why things have turned so ridiculous, but the team of Nick Ramos, Annie Green, Chuck Green and Frank West pick up their favorite weapon and head to a local cosplay clothing store to pick out some new threads and start racking up a high score.

Gameplay featured in Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha is very different from that of the original Dead Rising 3. Gone are the abilities to explore the open world or interact with weapons and clothing in the environment. Instead, there are a total of four different characters with five costumes each that come with one equipped weapon that is used throughout entire missions. There are four main missions divided into five rounds including special bonus rounds.

Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha is packed with plenty of nostalgia inducing moments. The game doesn't feature many references to begin, but players will unlock costumes from many of the most popular characters in Capcom's history including Ryu and Chun-Li from the Street Fighter series, Haggar from Final Fight and even forgotten characters such as Regina from Dino Crisis. Each character comes equipped with different weapons, a different special attack and different statistical values. This all makes the game more interesting by essentially including 20 different characters to use in the game, 16 of which must be unlocked through finding hidden items, completing objectives or spending in-game currency.



Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha features four levels laid out in nearly the same exact fashion as the original Final Fight brawler. There are also five rounds to each level that includes a special bonus level that is different from the others including a reference to Street Fighter with players attempting to destroy a parked car before time runs out. Other missions are laid out with various objectives such as go from Point A to Point B, kill set number of zombies or destroy a certain amount of objectives. All of these missions are timed, and the lack of free mode is a bit disheartening for Dead Rising fans that enjoy playing a more laid back style while exploring the different areas of the game.

The arcade gameplay has more color, sounds and wacky encounters than in the original Dead Rising 3. There are plenty of powerups spread around levels that will help players kill zombies and rack up points while working towards in-game objectives. The classic arcade "Pow" will boosts a character's attack, a shield powerup gives a golden helmet from Ghosts & Goblins along with some additional armor, and Mega Man energy tanks fill up a player's special meter. Each level in the game gets progressively more difficult, so it's important for players to grab as many powerups as they can find for the further they advance in the game.

Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha's classic presentation doesn't just end with costumes and powerups. The game also includes some classic sounds and themes players will recognize from other games in the Capcom library. The game's graphics still retains the same great next generation graphics the title is known for, though the camera seems to be more problematic with the fast-paced fighting at close range with hordes of zombies in the new game. The game's controls have been altered a bit to allow for more brawler based gameplay with light and heavy attacks along with special attacks for helping take down the zombie hordes more quickly. All of this combines to make some pretty exciting gameplay.



Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha is easily the best DLC that has been released for Dead Rising 3 and is almost good enough to be a stand alone release for the future of the franchise. The humor the game presents will be just what some fans were originally hoping to get out the of the original release, and the inclusion of so many favorite Capcom characters makes Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha one of the best DLC offerings made for any game on Xbox One so far.
