Let's delve into Tales from the Borderlands now! Read on.
Tales from the Borderlands takes place mostly on the planet of Pandora following the recent storyline after Borderlands 2 where Hyperion President Handsome Jack has been killed. If you are a diehard Borderlands fan like myself, you will want to jump into Tales from the Borderlands just for the opportunity to follow the storyline after the last game and see what unfolded.
In Tales from the Borderlands, we quickly learn that there are more Vaults scattered across the galaxy as long as you have a Vault Key. Players control two characters, Rhys (voiced by the amazing Troy Baker) and Fiona. Rhys is employed by Hyperion and has been trying to climb the ranks of the company but his boss Hugo Vasquez has made sure that hasn't happened. Rhys has collaborated with his co-worker and friend Vaughn to move up the ranks of the company but nothing goes as planned.
Rhys overhears his boss making a deal for a Vault Key for ten million dollars and decides to steal the key for himself in the hopes it will land him a promotion at Hyperion. The Vault Key is being sold by the other character you play in the story, Fiona. However, she is trying to pass off a fake key to get the money and a whirlwind of chaos occurs once the truth is discovered.
Tales from the Borderlands is a well-written story with intriguing new characters with exciting twist and turns that any Borderlands fan will appreciate. The art and soundtrack are divine and really set the mood for the amazing adventure to come. Players will fall in love with the various characters throughout the story, especially Loader Bot, while crying and laughing along with them during the way. Telltale Games has always done an incredible job at creating an emotional connection with the player and Tales from the Borderlands is no different.
The gameplay mechanics are similar to other titles in the Telltale Games line-up and requires the player to make tough choices that impact the actions of the story and the ways things will end up. Quick time events throughout the story will require players to press button combinations to survive and ultimately advance the plot.
Tales from the Borderlands takes elements and characters from the series like Handsome Jack, Mad Moxxi and Zer0 and meshes them with brand new content to create one of the best Telltale Games to date. Tales from the Bordlerands makes you open up your heart and truly feel and experience the Borderlands world like never before.
