Dead Age (Video Game Review)

Headup Games has announced the release of Dead Age for PC.

Dead Age thrust players into the zombie apocalypse to survive and features turn-based combat that can result in permanent death. Dead Age requires strategy and patience as you try to build alliances with other survivors and go on runs to scavenge for supplies to stay alive. The game manages to put you into a terrifying world where you are constantly defending your camp from the undead while making difficult decisions that impact your character's storyline.

The Survival-RPG has a lot of replay value because there are so many missions and survivors to meet along the way. The ability to craft your own equipment keeps you on the constant lookup for new items to make better weapons and survival gear.

Dead Age has a similar storyline to most zombie apocalypse games. Your character is one of the fortunate ones who managed to find a group of survivors and hold out together in safety at their camp. In order to keep everyone alive, you have been tasked with replenishing food supplies and materials to keep the camp running efficiently. Not only do you have to find food and medical supplies to stay alive, but you have to be on the defensive against the undead and hostile humans.

One of the most interesting aspects of Dead Age is the ability to impact your own story with the decisions you make. You are not forced to help others, but you are given that choice to help or let them die. There are many different decisions to make along the way that can ultimately alter your future in the game. There is romance, revenge, and danger lurking around every corner.

Dead Age features six possible endings depending on how long you survive and the choices you make along the way.  The non-linear gameplay and Final Fantasy style turn-based combat really add an entirely new level of immersion to the survival RPG. The combat can get a tad bit repetitive at times and there are some glitches during gameplay.

In the end, Dead Age is a fun and entertaining game that many zombie fans will love. To learn more, visit the official Dead Age Steam page.

The demo covers your first four days on the job, teaching the systems while nudging you toward choices, obey protocol and keep the peace, or pry at the seams and uncover the post office’s darker purpose. Either way, those first shifts are a careful, uncanny invitat...
