Redeemer Review (PC)

Gambitious Digital Entertainment and Sobaka Studio prepare to release Redeemer.

Redeemer contains a deep melee system for its combat that delivers some brutal action-packed fun. The brawler game allows players to punch, hack and blast their way through the game's unique environments by either using their very own fists, firearms or even hammers.

You start the game out as the character Vasily. Your character was tasked with assassination and infiltration when employed as an elite operative for some of the most corrupt Cybernetic Weapons Manufacturers in the world. Soon your employers turn their evil on you and turn you into one of their cyborg soldiers. You manage to barely escape their grasps before retreating to a hidden monastery found within the snow blanketed mountains.

Vasily tried to find an inner peace for over 20 years among fellow monks but never was able to completely put the past behind him. As the corporation starts to slowly close in, Vasily finds he has one last shot at redemption for everything that was taken from him.

Redeemer is a top down action game with an eccentric kill and parry system. The engaging storyline in Redeemer allows player to discover their character's past full of betrayal leading to the ultimate need for redemption. There are several ways to kill your enemies that includes stealth or savage execution kills using objects around your environment.

If you truly want to test your skills in Redeemer, then you can head into the Arena to battle it out with hordes of enemies to practice your favorite moves. Arena mode can be a very engaging and fun experience that adds a ton of replayability to the game as you try to beat your best record each time.

Redeemer has beautiful visuals and excellent animations to show off the game's intense and brutal action. The soundtrack perfectly compliments the innovative combat system adding a great deal of entertainment to this old-school type brawler. The bleak art style really sets the eerie mood that gives off a classic vibe that any diehard fan will love. The game does have a few framerate issues that breaks the game's immersion level but thankfully the tight controls help to keep combat fun.

In the end, Redeemer contains enough action to keep you coming back for more time and again. The beat-'em up allows you to use your own strategy and learn intricate combat moves to make your way through exquisitely designed environments full of objects to bash against your enemies. If you love top down, brawler games with an old-school feel, then you will want to check out Redeemer on PC. To learn more, visit the official Redeemer website.
