The Lost Legends Gets "The Scout" Episode for Xbox One

Soma Games has released the first episode of The Lost Legends on Xbox One.

Soma Games, in association with Redwall Abbey Company Ltd. and Penguin Random House UK, has released “The Scout,” the first episode in the ongoing character-focused game series “The Lost Legends of REDWALL™,” on Xbox One .

From a small studio in Newberg, Oregon, Soma Games has brought the REDWALL™ literary world to life for the very first time in the form of the new video game. The 22-novel REDWALL™ series, written by Brian Jacques, has collectively sold more than 30 million copies worldwide since the original book was released in 1986, published by Penguin Random House.

"This kind of collaborative relationship is exactly what we look for in a partner” says Emma Topping, Senior Lawyer & Executive (Film, Television and Stage) for Penguin Random House UK. "We look forward to introducing a new generation to the Redwall book series as well as providing those who grew up with Redwall to see some of their favourite characters in a reimagined world.”

“It has been an honor to bring Brian’s universe to life in a way that upholds the heroic ideals that his stories held in such high regard,” says John Bergquist of Soma Games. “As the first official collaboration of a Redwall character video game, we believe we’ve ingrained those ideals within the game.”

“The Lost Legends of REDWALL™” is a collaboration years in the making, combining the efforts of Soma Games with rights owners and controllers The Redwall Abbey Company Ltd. and Penguin Random House UK. “Together we all nurtured a product that we believe captures the heart of Brian Jacques’ masterpiece,” says Chris Skaggs, Game Director and Principal at Soma Games. “Between authentic musical scores, digitally sculpted art and an inspired fresh and new narrative, our hope is that this series earns its place among the influential games of the new millennium.”

“We wanted to remind players that you can immerse yourself in a classic fantastical universe and complete a mission that holds higher values—like loyalty, friendship and adventure—without relying on realistic violence,” adds Bergquist. “It’s an opportunity to play the type of story-driven games that we feel have been lost to the more recent gaming culture, and it allowed our incredibly creative and talented artists a canvas to bring the world of Redwall to life in a new way.”

A whimsical adventure game based on characters from the bestselling REDWALL™ books, “The Scout” is the first episode of “The Lost Legends of REDWALL™” and is best understood as a stealth-adventure game, taking place in the middle of winter.
