4. Spelunky (Math)
If there's one thing Spelunky teaches you while playing, it's how to count, as in how many times have I died in the ten minutes alone? Spelunky is a tough platformer in the same mold as other challenging titles such as Super Meat Boy. You play as an adventurer who enters this mystical cave in search of a legendary treasure. Plenty of monsters, traps and long falls await you in the cave whose layout changes each time you start up a new game, and you will do this many times over the course of this very difficult game. Pop Quiz! The number of times you die before beating Spelunky divided by the hours you'll spend completing the main quest means you'll die how many times per hour? The answer is a whole freggin' lot, but you'll still enjoy the game the entire time.
3. Quantum Conundrum (Science)
In Quantum Conundrum, you play as a young boy who comes to his uncle's rescue when he finds himself stuck inside his mansion. The boy will use the power of a special invention of his uncle's to make his way across the mansion. This special device allows you to control the different physical dimensions Fluffy, Heavy, Slow-Motion and Anti-Gravity which should teach you more than you need to know in order to pass your science exam, and for bonus points, you can bring your companion the Interdimensional Kinetic Entity known simply as Ike to class for a quick presentation during show and tell.
2. Deadlight (History)
Deadlight stars a protagonist by the name of Randall Wayne during the zombie apocalypse of 1986 in the Seattle, Washington area. After making a desperate attempt to find a safe area away from the Shadows, as the zombies are called in Deadlight, Randall decides to head back to his hometown to reunite with his family. This won't be an easy trip, as there are plenty of Shadows lurking the streets, few weapons to fend off the hordes and even more dangerous survivors on the lookout for any survivors. Deadlight is an amazing title that takes you on a trip down memory lane as you experience what the world used to be like and even find old school, handheld video game systems that come from a simpler time. Deadlight also teaches you sometimes it's better to forget the past, although, I'm sure your history teacher wouldn't agree.
