Massive Fortnite Update v42.10: Everything Arriving on September 3

Epic Games is rolling out one of its most expansive patches to date with the release of the Fortnite v42.10 update. Main downtime for the update begins at 4:00 AM Eastern Time on September 3, 2026, with servers remaining offline for approximately two to three hours. Players across the globe will experience brief maintenance windows tailored to their time zones, including 9:00 AM in the United Kingdom, 10:00 AM in South Africa, 4:00 PM in the Philippines, 6:00 PM in Sydney, and 8:00 PM in New Zealand.

Battle Royale and Zero Build modes are receiving dynamic gameplay modifiers through brand-new Match Overrides. Players can jump into chaotic encounters with the Big Heads Override or hide in plain sight using the Prop Hunt Override. Alongside these wild game modes, new Loot Hacks are joining the field, granting access to weapons and utility such as the Rocket Ram, Gold Banana, Tracking Visor, Holo Twister, Deadeye AR, and Wrecker Revolver. Character customization expands with three new Sprites—one original Fortnite creation alongside the community-designed X-Ray and Onigiri Sprites—while the Sprite Garden receives key quality-of-life improvements. Lore enthusiasts can progress through the new Geno Storyline Quests and unlock audio logs, while file updates hint at upcoming gaming collaborations, including heavily rumored content for Kingdom Hearts.

Fortnite OG officially transitions into Season X, bringing back nostalgic landmarks and remixing classic cosmetics. Players can unlock remixed versions of iconic outfits through the new OG Pass, featuring Female Rust Lord, Ultima Knight Remix, and Catalyst Remix. The island map evolves with the return of suspended spatial anomalies like the Dusty Depot Meteor, the starry loot drops of Starry Suburbs, and the return of Tilted Town, where building and harvesting are completely disabled. The Season X loot pool kicks off with the B.R.U.T.E. mech, Junk Rift, and Automatic Sniper Rifle, with items like the Tactical SMG, Shield Bubble, Spicy Taco, and Zapper Trap slated for mid-season releases. Later in the season, Gotham City will emerge as a Rift Zone alongside returning Batman Mythic items.

LEGO Fortnite welcomes a massive crossover with the arrival of Gotham City content. Builders can explore real Gotham-inspired locations, fight off hostile Gotham Henchmen using new Blasters and Slicers, and complete assignments for the Dark Knight himself. Players will be able to construct essential crime-fighting equipment using new LEGO gadgets including the Bat-Glider, Bat Grapnel, and Bat Signal, as well as recruit Batman directly as an active Villager. Looking ahead to October 1, the crossover expands further with craftable vehicles including the iconic Batmobile, the Odyssey Bat aircraft, and full Villager availability for Batman.
