Painkiller Hell & Damnation will release next week for PC. Now let's look at some of the things the latest title did right!
5. Stayed True to the Series
They didn't go back and try to re-invent what made the original Painkiller fun, the mindless fast paced shooting. The original game was at home in a Serious Sam style of gameplay and the remake delivers that classic simple shooter that is missing in today’s market
4. Unique Weapons
I have to say, it's been a while since the first weapon in a game I was given was a gun that shot saw blades and had an alternate fire to channel a beam to make enemies heads explode
3. Cooperative Gameplay
It's a nice little update giving you the option to tackle the legions of hell with your friends.
2. Enemy Variety
In this day and age you're lucky if there's 8 enemy types to deal with. Painkiller has over 30 of some of the most creative enemy types I've seen in a while. 10 foot tall skeletons clad in obsidian armor holding medieval era shields and swords is refreshing in the drab world of stale enemies we're in today.
1. Refreshingly Unique
It's odd that a remake of a nearly decade old title would have some of the most refreshing gameplay I've experienced in a long time. Painkiller Hell & Damnation delivers face paced demon slaying action with none of the fluff you're used to getting. There's no killstreaks, weapon customization, regenerating health, or any of that pansy player hand holding developers throw at us.
