The Sims 3 Movie Stuff (Video Game Review)

The Sims 3 won't be receiving too much more content, since The Sims 4 has already been announced and is on schedule for a 2014 release date, but fans can still purchase some fresh content to enjoy for the aging PC title that has just received its ninth Stuff content release. The Sims 3 Movie Stuff is packed with loads of new items from various movie genres that is sure to give players plenty of exciting costumes to play superheroes and villains, old western themed items for creating better cowboy movies than The Duke himself and plenty of horror clothes and accessories to make a slasher film that, well, doesn't suck. The Sims 3 Movie Stuff doesn't actually add any new gameplay to The Sims 3, but players can use their imagination to create scenes from superhero, western and horror flicks and deck out their Sims characters of all ages in plenty of unique new clothes.

Each set of items in The Sims 3 Movie Stuff has a different theme and content that includes character clothes, home decorations and various movie themed items as well. The superhero items include some pretty nifty items such as a phone booth that allows Sims to quickly take showers rather than to switch into a Superman outfit. There are plenty of decorative home items as well including one of the more awesome items in the entire pack--a coffee table that also has a map that tracks crime around the world. Plenty of spandex and tight clothing is available in various superhero and villain outfits. The outfits come in a variety of colors and styles from caped heroes to darker palettes in villains clothes. There are also some nice options for child superheroes that is sure to be a favorite with many fans of The Sims 3.

The western set of items has all the tools needed to set up classic cowboy movie scenes. The decor begins at the front door with the classic swinging saloon doors, and cowboys can walk up to the new rustic bar and order a shot of whiskey like a true westerner. The old west outhouse is possibly the most useful item in the entire collection that is a two in one shower and toilet that can be used inside or outside in the front yard. Of course, there are plenty of cowboy hats, boots, chaps and other western clothing, and players can even clothe their Sims in classic bar girls or brothel outfits that are a bit sexy compared to the usual content contained in The Sims 3 that can be both good and bad depending on the age of the gamer playing the new content pack.

The horror items included in The Sims 3 Movie Stuff are clearly the weakest of the bunch, since The Sims 3 has a tendency to shy away from including anything truly frightening in its game and additional DLC. There are some dark dresses for lady Sims and some bizarre clothing for guys as well. One cool item that some fans will enjoy is a coffin bed that is perfect for acting out a Dracula film. Other spooky items in this set include an eerie bookshelf and a bizarre door that is perfect for the front entrance for a haunted house.

Each set shares many of the same type of items with different themes. The superhero unit has some of the most outlandish outfits, though few of the clothes offer many items that could be considered casual or provides clothing that looks normal outside of themed Sims homes. There are a great variety of home decorations and helpful items that are both helpful to add to a Sims home and efficient for performing necessary Sims tasks. Each set also shares certain types of items such as superhero winged hats, tall cowboy hats and some spooky, gothic hats. Each set has beds, bathroom items and hairstyles that are exclusive to the particular theme, and there are movie backdrops for each movie type including an old western town. There are a few items that will fit outside the three themes, but the majority of items will fit these movie types. One last item included in the The Sims 3 Movie Stuff is music for each theme and radio stations that provides epic superhero themes, country western music and spooky horror music.

The Sims 3 Movie Stuff is worth a look if you're a fan of The Sims 3 looking for new content for their favorite game. The content pack only adds items for aesthetic purposes or to perform actions that can be done with items already included in the basic game. There are some pretty cool items included in the new content pack including a western outhouse, coffin bed and plenty of over the top superhero and villain costumes. Whether The Sims 3 Movie Stuff is worth its $20 price tag will likely be up to the player. Fans of The Sims 3 that are looking for some fresh content will want to pick up the final Stuff pack The Sims 3 will receive, but the DLC isn't the best release EA and The Sims Studio has released for their highly popular game. Check out The Sims 3 Movie Stuff and make your own Sims movie adventures today!

The Sims 3 Movie Stuff is now available from all major retailers and can be purchased for PC and Mac. The Sims 3 Movie Stuff is rated T by the ESRB for Crude Humor, Sexual Themes & Violence. For more information on the game, check out the official The Sims 3 Movie Stuff website.
