Just Dance 2014 (Video Game Review)

Ubisoft has announced the biggest party of the year with the release of Just Dance 2014 for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and Wii U. Just Dance 2014 takes the spotlight with fun game modes and a huge selection of entertaining songs that will get you up and moving in no time. Just Dance 2014 makes it easy for anyone to look like a professional dancer, because it aims to be more of a party game and leaves out all the super technical stuff that you may expect a game of this nature to have.

Just Dance 2014 returns with the colorful, neon visuals that you have grown to love alongside amusing dance routines and superb music that includes over 48 tracks at launch. In Just Dance 2014, players must follow the on-screen cues and listen to their instructor to pull off the dance moves through the utilization of motion controls through the Wiimote, Kinect or PlayStation Eye depending on which platform you decide to dance on. Just Dance 2014 has a great amount of new features which includes the ability for different players to dance to different routines. This new feature means that two players can dance one set of commands while another two dance to another, or whichever way you decide to do it. By adding this small feature, Just Dance 2014 really feels like choreographed dancing! I mean you and your friends could really learn some great moves just by playing this game meaning Just Dance 2014 really delivers.

Players will also be able to enjoy the game's new karaoke mode which allows one player to sing the song lyrics while the others dance. This is the perfect way to get that one player involved who doesn't like dancing but is up for singing a few tunes. The game developers have really tried to add as much content as possible to help get everyone involved in the party in Just Dance 2014. Next up, we have the Party Master mode, which lets one player utilize the gamepad to change up the game through altering songs, rules or moves. Party Master mode really adds a degree of challenge to boring old routines and jazzes up the gameplay. The best feature in Just Dance 2014 is that up to six people can dance at once and the camera seems to have no problem with tracking the players. Now it's a party!

Overall, I particularly enjoyed the Classic free-dance and On-Stage modes. On-Stage allows one player to take the center stage, as two other players do backup dance routines, like you would during a concert. Players can also dance against ghost renditions of their friend's gameplay which means that you can dance without other players having to be present. However, the best part is that Just Dance 2014 has a slew of social media features and online modes. Just Dance 2014 allows players to record clips of them singing or dancing and share them via their social networking sites. The Autodance feature has been upgraded and allows players to transform their moves into music videos which can then be instantly shared. This means you can take that extra step of embarrassing yourself and show the world your awful dance moves! However, you may be a beast at the game and just want to show off your awesome skills. Players can also browse through their friend's videos with Just Dance TV which is the biggest hub of user generated videos.

Just Dance 2014 is a blast no matter if you have two left feet and the dance moves of Napoleon Dynamite. The largest addition to Just Dance 2014 is the new World Dance Floor mode that adds a few MMO capabilities to the title allowing players to join friends to compete against rival dancers to add to their overall rank. Do you have what it takes to dance your way to the top of the leaderboards? It may be easier then you think! World Dance Floor manages to crank up the replayability of the game so high that you may never quit dancing. While the new online mode is standard in most games today, it is a delight to finally have it in a game like Just Dance 2014. Everything is better with friends and World Dance Floor really takes the game to new heights and contributes to the overall updated release for one of the best dance experiences of the year.

Just Dance 2014 isn't just for fun or socializing but is a great way to get in shape! No joke, I found myself out of breath and a little achy after hours of playing. Players can also customize Just Sweat mode to track calories within the game's other modes and routines alongside additional custom playlist options. Just Dance 2014 offers up more variety than ever with alternate choreography on all modes alongside new dance battles and mash-ups.

All-in-all, Just Dance 2014 is undoubtedly the best dance simulation title this year. Just Dance 2014 lacks innovation but makes up for it with its terrific soundtrack, fun dance routines and new online mode. Players will want to step up and perform one last dance on current-gen consoles before the next-gen set rolls in. Just Dance 2014 manages to create a party right in your very on home and the new online mode allows for players to play with friends all around the world. If you don't own Just Dance 2014, then buy your copy today and join the fun!
