Danger Girl: Back in Black (Comic Book Review)

Danger Girl: Back in Black is a new release for the Danger Girl franchise that first appeared back in the 1990s. The new collection features several short stories combined to make a narrative of over 100 pages. The story follows the series stars Abbey Chase and Sydney Savage on a mission to infiltrate an all women biker gang and recover a stolen Native American artifact. The story is fun and ripe with humor, and though the writing style won't be every readers favorite, is still worth the purchase for fans of the franchise.

Danger Girl: Back in Black begins with Abbey out and about on what appears to be a normal shopping trip before a robbery happens that forces the agent to take action. Not long after returning home, Abbey and Sydney get a new mission from Deuce to head across the country to find and infiltrate a biker gang and recover a powerful relic known simply as the Black Seed. Hijinks ensue, and in true Danger Girl fashion, there is plenty of violence, jokes and sexy women to do the series justice. Danger Girl: Back in Black isn't the best storyline the franchise has produced, but it's good enough that longtime fans of the series will want to pick it up to experience the storyline again or for the first time.

Danger Girl: Back in Black doesn't hold back on the immature humor and sexuality the series is known for. Tops fly off, underwear ends up in unlikely areas and one of the girls receives a tattoo in a very intimate area. Most comic fans will have already heard of the Danger Girl series and will have made up their mind whether they enjoy the series or not, but it's understandable that Danger Girl isn't for everyone. Danger Girl: Back in Black isn't the best storyline the series has produced either, but it's good enough that fans will want to read through the pages to see what is going on and what is next for the series.

Danger Girl: Back in Black is a good read with some funny moments and plenty of fan service with sexy protagonists. The new collection doesn't have the best storyline the series has produced, but it's worth a read and includes a surprising ending that sets up what is next for the series. Danger Girl: Back in Black also offers a bit of bonus content with black and white images at the back of the book that can be removed and colored for fans to create their own artwork for Danger Girl. Danger Girl: Back in Black is out now from IDW Publishing.

Danger Girl: Back in Black is now available from IDW and can be purchased for $17.99. For more information on Danger Girl: Back in Black, check out the official IDW website.
