Kristina Anapau is an actress known for her work on HBO's True Blood as the faerie Maurella and has worked on popular shows and movies like Grimm, Black Swan and Cursed. We recently had the opportunity to talk with Kristina about her projects, as well as her new film Altergeist, her fashion brand Color it New and much more. Read on.

AMANDA DYAR: Kristina, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. First off, could you tell us a little bit about how you got into acting and what made you pursue a career in it?

KRISTINA ANAPAU:
My pleasure. I fell into acting rather unexpectedly at age 16, when I was cast in a lead role in the Universal film, Escape From Atlantis. Up until that point I was very focused on academia, having started college two years early, and quite serious about classical ballet. I never had much interest in acting prior to that film, but it's been a really wonderful life.

AMANDA: You played the faerie Maurella on HBO's True Blood. Can you tell us how you got involved with the show and what the process was like for auditioning for Maurella? Also, what was one of your fondest memories from your work on True Blood?

KRISTINA: I auditioned for Alan Ball and got the call that I had the role just a few hours later. I had always been a fan of Alan's work and of the show, so I was absolutely thrilled. As for a fond memory, I really enjoyed the conversations I had with Chris Bauer-- definitely one of my favorite elements of being on the show. He's a phenomenal actor, and a very intelligent, gracious and interesting person.

AMANDA: Some of your other work includes playing Megan Marston on Grimm, Galina in Black Swan and Brooke on Cursed. Are you drawn to darker, more supernatural type projects or do you have a favorite genre in particular?

KRISTINA: I think as I working actor coming up in the business, you are just thrilled to be booking great projects in general, so it's less a matter of choosing the role and more a matter of the role choosing you. So I guess you could say darker, supernatural roles have been drawn to me (laughs).

Kristina Anapau on the set of Altergeist

AMANDA: Your most recent film Altergeist you star as Theresa which features six ghost hunters investigating the bizarre acts that take place in the King's Ransom Winery. Tell us a little bit about the film and your character. Also, what makes the Altergeist different from any other paranormal horror film?

KRISTINA: Altergeist is a film that is definitely going to have the audience on the edge of their seats. It's got so much more depth and dimension than your typical paranormal horror film-- well developed characters, beautiful cinematography-- the filmmakers did a great job across the card. Theresa is a director/producer who takes her film crew up to the winery to investigate and see what they can capture on film. She and her team find what they are looking for and much more! I'm excited for people to see it.

AMANDA: Lastly, you have a new fashion brand called Color it New. What details can you give us about this new brand and what were your main inspirations for it?

KRISTINA: Yes, Color It New is launching this fall! It's a fashion product that really is going to revolutionize peoples approach to fashion-- I think it will bring a lot of freedom and empowerment to peoples lives. I wanted to create a practical solution to a problem that all people face, and after almost four years in development, I'm very excited to share it with the world!

Jackson County Fair in Scottsboro, Alabama (Event Review)

The Jackson County Fair has invaded Scottsboro, Alabama for the week of October 7-11, 2014, but the event may be a waste of money for some.  The fair was the 79th annual showing and was presented by Kissel Entertainment. The event featured rides, exhibits, games and great (yet too expensive) food for attendees at the show. Families could have enjoyed a great time at the fair grounds, but the event wasn't cheap and it didn't feature some of the more prominent attractions like one would find at larger, state fairs and carnivals. The turn out very low in Scottsboro though, and many would think that this would make it easier to enjoy the event but not even small lines could help make the Jackson County event fun. The Jackson County Fair had over a dozen rides for all age groups. The fair's massive Ferris Wheel towered high in the sky and helped light up the event, while the Moby Dick ride and Gravitron also looked fearsome and stood tall even from a distance. Plenty of ...
