Just Dance 2015 (Video Game Review)

Just Dance 2015 is Ubisoft's sixth installment for one of its most popular franchises. By now, most gamers will know if Just Dance 2015 is a game they should be interested in or not. The franchise focuses on motion controls and gameplay that forces players to attempt to match the dance moves of on-screen silhouettes to earn points and survive until the end of songs. The formula for the Just Dance franchise has changed a bit over the years, but Just Dance 2015 doesn't offer a ton of innovations from its predecessor. Fans will want to pick up the new release for the new track list alone, but the title doesn't have any new features that are likely to bring in a new audience.

Just Dance 2015 gets players up and moving with 45 new tracks. The song list includes classic hits from the 60s, 70s, 80, 90s and 2000s including "Walk This Way" by Run DMC and Aerosmith and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye. The song list includes even more recent tracks such as "Happy" by Pharrell Williams and "Me and My Broken Heart" by Raxton, so there is sure to a some great songs for music fans of all types.

There are multiple ways to play Just Dance 2015 depending on the player's platform of choice. The game offers superb gameplay across Xbox One and Xbox 360 with Kinect and is easily best played on these consoles. PlayStation Move offers less accurate controls and similar problems occur when playing the game with the Nintendo Wii Nunchuk. PlayStation 4's Eye Camera offers a fun way to play the game with motion controls, but we'd still call the next generation version of the game on Xbox One the clear winner for best platform on which to play Just Dance 2015.

Just Dance 2015 introduces some new game modes for fans of the series to explore, but none are nearly as thrilling as the traditional game modes. Community Remix offers some online functionality where players can find recorded clips of other players to watch and dance along with in their own room. Dance Challenger Mode is the primary way to play online and allows players to have dance offs for up to four different players at one time. The game features a tug of war score system and voting for the next song to be played in the session.

Just Dance 2015 is still a game that is brutally tough for newcomers to immerse themselves in. The game teaches some advanced moves that takes some serious dedication and a serious attitude to learn. The game is a fun title for parties with friends, but only players that really enjoy watching themselves dance alone in their living room are going to enjoy the game beyond a few gimmicky sessions. Just Dance 2015 will get players up off the couch or bed and will force them to start sweating along with some of the best songs of this generation and previous ones, and some players will simply not be able to keep a serious attitude long enough to thoroughly enjoy the title.

Just Dance 2015 is a fun release for the Ubisoft franchise. The game is best played on next-gen consoles but can easily be enjoyed across all available platforms. Some of the new game modes are easy to look past, but online game modes and single player is still a lot of fun for fans of the series. It's tough to recommend Just Dance 2015 as a title every gamer should pick up, but the title is the best new dance title for fans of the genre to pick up this holiday season. Get up and shake your booty in Just Dance 2015 out now!
