Fox Digital Entertainment and Pocket Gems have partnered to bring gamers a brand-new mobile experience with Night at the Museum: Hidden Treasures. The game will be available for Android and iOS devices this holiday season before the release of the official film. BioGamer Girl recently had the chance to speak with Product Manager Austin Walterman about Pocket Gems' Night at the Museum: Hidden Treasures and what all fans can expect with the upcoming release. Read on to learn more.
AMANDA DYAR: Thank you for taking the time to speak with us. Tell us a little bit about what fans can expect from the upcoming Night at the Museum video game by Pocket Gems?
AUSTIN WALTERMAN: Night at the Museum: Hidden Treasures has been a great partnership between Fox Digital Entertainment and Pocket Gems. We’ve worked to create a really fun experience where the player is responsible for a museum coming alive! Larry Daley, Ben Stiller's character, will partner up with the player as they explore and interact with all the best characters and scenes from the movie franchise. Users search for items, unpack exhibits and chase monkeys as they solve the mysteries of the museum and help exhibits come to life.
AMANDA DYAR: The game will feature several characters from the upcoming movie that includes Ben Stiller, Teddy Roosevelt, Atilla the Hun and more. How will fans of the films be able to interact with their favorite characters in the upcoming game?
AUSTIN WALTERMAN: One of our goals with the game was to make sure the mix of humor and drama from the movies was alive and well in the game. Players will interact, make jokes and explore a new museum with all their favorite characters from the films along with some new friends exclusive to the game.
AMANDA DYAR: The title will feature hidden object scenes that allow players to explore the new museum and exhibits. How many levels will players be able to adventure through in the new game by Pocket Gems?
AUSTIN WALTERMAN: At launch, players will be able to interact with over 30 exhibits across 9 distinct exhibit halls. This will continue to expand as we keep building out the game.
AMANDA DYAR: What can you tell us about the soundtrack and will it compare to the Night at the Museum film?
AUSTIN WALTERMAN: We wanted to make sure the music and sound were optimized to create a great mobile experience. While we didn’t use the soundtrack from the movie, everything in the game is inspired by and in line with the franchise.
AMANDA DYAR: Why should movie fans of Night of the Museum play the upcoming game and how will it expand their experience?
AUSTIN WALTERMAN: As with any good companion game, Night at the Museum: Hidden Treasures is really an extension of a franchise that millions of fans already love. Due to the medium, we are given the chance to not only expand on situations people have loved from the films, but also to go deeper into the origin stories of the historical characters. People who already love the movies will build a closer relationship with the characters they love and have a chance to connect with the characters outside of the theatre.
From the Official Press Release
Fox Digital Entertainment and Pocket Gems, a leader in mobile-first entertainment, have partnered to create a new mobile game, Night at the Museum: Hidden Treasures, an officially licensed companion game to the popular film franchise. The game will be available on the Apple App Store and Google Play for smartphones and tablets ahead of the film, which hits theatres this holiday season.
Night at the Museum: Hidden Treasures is a hidden-object game that takes players into an all-new adventure set in the film’s key environments. Players join Larry Daley and report for their first night of duty as a security guard as they search for hidden relics, discover clues and team up with history's biggest personalities to save the museum’s magic from falling into the wrong hands.
“We’re huge fans of Night at the Museum and are thrilled to help create an all new adventure in its universe,” said Ben Liu, CEO of Pocket Gems. “Night at the Museum: Hidden Treasures will be fun for fans of the film franchise and the hidden-objects genre.”
Fans will be able to interact with film favorite characters such as Theodore Roosevelt, Rexy the Tyrannosaurus Rex and Jedediah Smith. In their adventures, players can hunt for relics using special tools to explore and unlock fantastical exhibits such as the surface of the moon or an Egyptian tomb.
“Night at the Museum: Hidden Treasures captures the spectacle and poignancy of the upcoming film, while engaging players with the same adventure and discovery elements that audiences have come to expect and enjoy from the franchise. We’re excited to partner with Pocket Gems to release this brand new mobile game to Night at the Museum fans all over the world,” commented Shawn Levy, director and producer of the upcoming film, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.
Night at the Museum: Hidden Treasures will be available for download this holiday season on the Apple App Store and on Google Play.
