Capcom has released the new episodic series Resident Evil: Revelations 2 box set that allows players to finally join a friend in an amazing co-op adventure to play all four episodes. The best thing about the new release is that you don't have to play the 2012 Resident Evil Revelations to enjoy the new release because it is a self-contained story all on its own. Read on to learn more.
Resident Evil: Revelations 2 starts out much like a Saw movie. Claire Redfield and Moira Burton (daughter of Barry Burton) are originally at the office only to be kidnapped and awake in a strange place. If that wasn't enough, the island that they are trapped on is infested with mutated zombies with a weird tracking bracelet attached to their arms. They only get bits and pieces of information from a creepy, mysterious woman via the bracelets but it is enough to know that their nightmare has just started.
Revelations 2 is comprised of four episodes that each have their own unique challenges and features. Claire and Moria find themselves in a creepy prison in the first episode and must escape their caged nightmare in order to make it out of the hellish place full of horrific monsters. However, they soon find that it may be a little harder then that since they are trapped on a island with thousands of miles of water around them. The co-op mode for Revelations 2 is relatively fun and allows players to help each other through each episode by utilizing their character's unique skills and talents.
Moria is equipped with a flashlight and crowbar which is helpful in prying open locked/boarded doors while using the flashlight to blind zombies and find key items. On the other side, you have Barry Burton and Natalia Korda. Natalia is a young girl equipped with supernatural abilities that allow her to see monsters before they ever come into eyesight alongside hidden items. Barry and Natalia come into the picture when he intercepts his daughter's call for help from the island and goes after her.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 plays out much like an episodic TV series (think ABC's Lost) and each new scene reveals more about the characters, their upcoming adventure and the mysterious happenings lurking around them. The story and characters for Resident Evil Revelations 2 is very intriguing and the characters manage to keep you drawn in and hanging onto every last bit of dialogue until the very end.
In the end, Resident Evil Revelations 2 is a sound game that manages to capture the creepiness that you loved from earlier games in the series with all of the modern-day advancements in graphics of next-gen consoles. Teamwork is a fundamental part of the game and working together is the only way you will survive. There are fun puzzles and mechanics to keep you going alongside tons of unlockables to keep you coming back for more. In the end, if you enjoy a good co-op game that has the twisted elements of horror weaved all through it then look no further then Resident Evil Revelations 2.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 is now available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC and can be purchased for $24.99 or $5.99 for single episodes. Resident Evil Revelations 2 is rated M by the ESRB for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence & Strong Language.
