Manairons - A whimsical 3D platformer where flute‑tuned puzzles and gentle rebellion unmake the machines. (Game Review)

I found myself waking up in a dusty flute shop, hitting a wrong note, and suddenly seeing an entire village spiral into chaos. Manairons is a quirky little game… part puzzle, part platformer, part folk tale… that kept me grinning through all its odd moments!

You wake up a tiny creature and set out to clean up a huge mess.

You play as Nai, a manairó who’s just been freed from a magical canut. The village has been taken over by a landowner named Llorenç, who’s turned your kin into laborers for his machines. Your mission is clear: get the canut back, free your fellow manairons, and shut down the machines.

Manairons blends 3D platforming with melody-driven puzzles and light combat. You’ll jump, climb, and play your flute to solve puzzles and guide other manairons. Most of your time is spent exploring shops, learning new tunes, and using your music to gently influence the world around you.

Watch the trailer here:

Strum a melody, shift a piece, and tackle the next little challenge.

Each area offers a mix of puzzles and platforming challenges! You learn a new melody, use it to shift the environment or guide your allies, then move onward. Boss fights break up the exploration, pushing you to combine your melodies with precise movement.

At its core, the game revolves around three things: melody puzzles, platforming, and controlling your companions. Your flute is both a tool and a weapon… you can knock out enemies, lull them to sleep, or activate mechanisms! Movement is key, with plenty of jumps, rope climbs, and timing-based moments. You progress by unlocking new melodies and freeing manairons, which open up fresh paths.

The difficulty stays friendly and approachable. Some platforming bits can feel a bit fiddly, and combat isn’t always smooth, but the game encourages you to experiment and explore. Mastering it means weaving melodies and movement together to clear areas without backtracking.

Cozy, a bit nostalgic, and playfully cheeky.

The visuals pay tribute to late-90s 3D platformers but with a fresh, modern touch. Warm colors, stylized characters, and carefully crafted environments give the world a handmade, inviting feel.

The music feels lighthearted and melodic, with flute notes that ring out clear and satisfying! Background sounds… clinks, creaks, and soft village chatter… bring the world to life.

The visuals and sounds work together to bring the world to life with a storybook charm. Everything is clear and easy to spot… puzzles and interactive bits stand out, and the flute’s notes connect your actions to what happens around you.

A solo journey full of charm worth sharing.

Manairons is a solo adventure, but its charm shines when you share your favorite puzzles, laugh over quirky boss fights, or chat about the standout Catalan voice acting.

There’s plenty to keep you coming back: collectibles tucked away, secrets hidden in every shop, and the thrill of uncovering new paths. If you love exploring every nook and cranny, this game has plenty to offer.

Manairons is a modest but heartfelt platformer, full of melody and character.

It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it shines in the little things… clever puzzles, a charming world, and a soundtrack that lingers. The controls can be a bit sticky, and the camera or targeting sometimes trips up, but those flaws rarely spoil the fun. If you enjoy cozy platformers with plenty of character and a folk-tale soul, this one will stay with you.
