Operation Augur is a fresh, limited-time mode in Battlefield 6 where a NATO battalion takes on Pax Armata defenders in a tense, sector-by-sector battle. Attackers need to capture one or more control points at the same time to claim each sector, while defenders dig in, using the map’s vertical spaces and chokepoints to slow their advance. The mode focuses on teamwork, smart vehicle use, and tight objective control across two unique stages: Contaminated and Hagental Base.
Mode overview
Uneven objectives: Attackers get forward vehicles and better spawn points in certain sectors, while defenders focus on strengthening their positions and using high ground to their advantage.
Moving through sectors: Taking control of a sector lets attackers push forward, but losing it can slow things down and force a rethink.
Varied combat: Battles range from tight trench fights and hangar brawls to tunnel skirmishes and rooftop clashes, rewarding squads that adapt and switch roles on the fly.
Contaminated sectors
Hamlet
The objective is a house surrounded by trenches, making it a tight and intense battleground. Both teams use Light Ground Transports and Quad Bikes to move quickly around the area. Attackers get extra firepower with an LTV and an Infantry Fighting Vehicle to lead their charge along the dirt roads. Holding the trenches and flanking paths is key, whoever controls them can decide if the attackers get close enough to take the house.
Maintenance Hangar
The objectives stretch in a straight line from the trenches to the hangar. VL-7 Smoke grenades can cloud vision and turn the fight chaotic. Attackers usually secure the trenches first at Objective A before moving on to the hangar at Objective B. Teams that coordinate smoke cover and breaching tactics have the upper hand here.
Ramp Apron
Attackers usually take the Ramp (Objective A) first before pushing toward the Apron (Objective B). Since guard towers surround Objective B and make direct assaults risky, splitting the attack between the Ramp and headquarters tends to work better than charging straight in.
Hagental Base Entrance
This objective centers around a single point surrounded by open hangars and bunkers you can climb. The fight gets intense across multiple levels, and holding the high ground or roof access can turn the tide. Teams that control the hangar roofs often dominate the lanes inside.
Hagental Base sectors
Emergency Generators
Attackers need to take control of two key points: one just outside their HQ and another deep inside a maintenance tunnel. Since vehicles can’t be used in the tunnel, this area turns into a fierce, close-quarters battle. Players will want to gear up with weapons and tools suited for tight spaces and quick breaching.
Central Tunnel
Attackers push out from the Maintenance Area toward the objective. The West Tunnel provides a flank route perfect for long-range weapons, while the narrower hallways offer close-quarters breaching opportunities. Controlling the tunnel network is key to gaining the upper hand.
Depot
This objective sits atop catwalks where two main flank routes meet. The fight gets hectic with vertical combat and plenty of explosives flying to control the catwalks. Teams holding the East Tunnel flank can block enemy reinforcements.
Server
This sector has two key points: one at the East Tunnel exit and another in the Server room. Attackers often break through walls to open up new paths, while defenders set up tight chokepoints where shotguns and SMGs can really shine.
Tactics and loadouts
• Squad roles: Make sure your squad has a good mix - a breacher to break through, a medic to keep everyone alive, someone to handle vehicles, and a long-range shooter for support.
• Vehicle use: Use Light Ground Transports and Quad Bikes to move quickly between objectives, but save the bigger vehicles like IFVs and LTVs for coordinated team pushes.
• Smoke and breaching: Smoke grenades and demolition charges are game-changers in tight spots like hangars and tunnels.
• High ground control: Focus on taking and holding roofs and towers in the Apron and Hagental areas to block enemy sightlines and cut off spawn routes.
• Adapt loadouts: Switch to close-quarters gear for fights in tunnels and server rooms, and bring throwable gadgets to clear rooms fast.
When to play
Operation Augur launched on April 14 as a limited-time mode. It’s perfect for players who love tactical, objective-focused team play and switching between vehicle battles and close-quarters infantry fights. Jump in early to get familiar with the sector layouts and team up with a regular squad, knowing the best flank routes and where to hold the high ground can turn a stalled attack into a decisive win.
