Scarygirl (Video Game Review)

Scarygirl is the newest platformer from developer TikGames. The game is based off the graphic novel of the same name by artist Nathan Jurevicius. To say Scarygirl is a strange tale may be an understatement. Scarygirl, herself, is a little girl with tentacle arms, an eye patch and hook, and nappy hair. Her companions are a talking rabbit and octopus, and the world is full of strange creatures, plants and other forms of life. The game manages to pull off a creepy and cute tone at the same time that any BioGamer Girl or Guy could enjoy. Think A Nightmare Before Christmas , as Scarygirl could easily pass for Sally’s little sister. The storyline tells how this odd and mysterious young girl washed up on shore of a strange world one day. Scarygirl was then taken in and raised by a wise octopus known as Blister. As Scarygirl gets older, she is haunted by a recurring dream about a man with a funny-shaped head, so she naturally sets off to discover who the man in her dreams is ...

Content creators around the world are invited to submit a 15-minute, story-driven video of any format, style and genre, to http://Youtube.com/yourfilmfestival . After submissions are whittled down to 50 semi-finalists, audiences from around the world will cast their votes, choosing ten finalists. The ten finalists will travel to Italy, where their work will screen at the 69th Venice International Film Festival in August. A grand prize winner will then be named by a special jury and awarded a $500,000 YouTube original production grant to work with Scott Free, ultimately creating a brand new work for the world to see.

Celeste is struck down in a severe storm one night and finds herself absorbed into the beckoning light before her. She soon discovers a most horrifying plot set in motion to destroy her world, and she is reborn into the light in order to make things right. The twist to the story is that Celeste's own husband is responsible for bringing forth the darkness onto their world through his work at Mantra Research Facility . What would survival horror be without video games like RESIDENT EVIL or SILENT HILL? These titles not only named but defined the genre we know today, and 2012 is boding to be one of the best years ever for these two horror-gaming giants. I remember the first time I played RESIDENT EVIL. Never will I forget that initial moment of paralyzing fear as my throat closed up and my heart practically throbbed out of my chest. RESIDENT EVIL was the first video game to get this reaction from me, and has since been the last. Each entry used its own methods to terrorize the player and make them pee their pants. RESIDENT EVIL employed various quick-scare tactics through strategically placed camera angles: The player wasn’t allowed to clearly see around that next corner, but instead would arrive there only to be violently attacked by an array of mutated creatures. New Men in Black Video Game for 2012

Activision has announced that a new Men in Black game will release in 2012. Its release will coincide with that of forthcoming movie Men In Black III, with Acti promising “action-packed, yet light-hearted gameplay mixed with edge-of-your-seat shooting excitement” An original story has been created for the game, with familiar faces from the MIB franchise – as well as new foes – set to feature. “The Men In Black franchise is an unbeatable starting point to deliver a genre-bending gaming experience with a level of production value on par with Hollywood,” said Activision Publishing’s Executive Vice President, David Oxford.  "The Men In Black video game will be both familiar to fans, an exciting beginning for the uninitiated, and revolutionary for the franchise," Mark Caplan, Vice President of Licensing at Sony Pictures Entertainment, added. Men in Black will be available in Spring 2012.
