Alabama Phoenix Fest 2012 (Event Report)


A new convention is rising and taking its place in Alabama. It is the Alabama Phoenix Festival which will have tracks that include: Sci-Fi and Fantasy Media, Comics, Gaming, Paranormal, Alternate History, Costuming, Star Trek, Star Wars, Sci-Fi and Fantasy Literature, Science and Engineering, Anime and Manga, and Horror, as well as an Art Show and Exhibit. Alabama Phoenix Festival is excited to announce a new festival for creative minds on Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-27TH, 2012, at the Cahaba Grand Conference Center with ancillary events being hosted by the Perimeter Park Hilton Garden Inn. The Alabama Phoenix Festival will begin at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 25 with activities around the clock until closing at 5:00 pm Sunday, May 27.
“The creative exchange of ideas is one of the primary goals of the Alabama Phoenix Festival,” says Steve Charleson, Co-Founder and CEO of the Alabama Phoenix Festival.  “We feel it is important that these people have an event where they can interact with each other and hopefully encourage the next generation of creative individuals.”

Primary programming will take place in 1 hour, 15 minute long blocks with 15 minute breaks between each block. Tracks include: Sci-Fi and Fantasy Media, Comics, Gaming, Paranormal, Alternate History, Costuming, Star Trek, Star Wars, Sci-Fi and Fantasy Literature, Science and Engineering, Anime and Manga, and Horror, as well as an Art Show and Exhibit. The gaming and anime tracks will take place at the Perimeter Park Hilton. All other tracks will take place at the Cahaba Grand Conference Center. 

Membership prices from now until April 27th, 2012 are $50, and include weekend passes to all activities. After April 27th, day and weekend memberships will be available at the door. Children under 10 get in free with an adult membership purchase. The Perimeter Park Hilton is offering a special rate of $95/night for Alabama Phoenix Festival attendees.

Sponsorships are still available for the Alabama Phoenix Festival. Sponsors to date include Kingdom Comics and Kelley & Mullis Wealth Management, both located in Birmingham, Alabama.
