Schaeffer Eye Center Crawfish Boil (Event Report)

The Schaeffer Eye Center Crawfish Boil will take place over the weekend of May 4-5, 2012 near the BJCC and Sheraton Hotel in Birmingham, Alabama. The annual event has been a tradition dating back to the first event over 20 years ago, and it has since grown into one of the biggest events of the year in not only Birmingham, but the country.

The event has always included many great shows and other forms of entertainment, great food and, of course, lots and lots of fresh Louisiana crawfish. Past guests at the event have included bands such as Alice in Chains, The Goo Goo Dolls, Seether, Shinedown, Papa Roach, Hinder, All-American Rejects, Three Doors Down and Barenaked Ladies and solo artists like Fergie, Katy Perry, Snoop Dogg, Akon, Flo Rida, T-Pain, LL Cool J, Gavin DeGraw and Jason Mraz just to name a few.

This year, the Schaeffer Eye Center Crawfish Boil looks to be bigger than ever with musical guests such as Megadeth, Jane's Addiction, The Cult, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Lupe Fiasco and many more. Coca Cola will be one of the show's sponsors once again, and they will be bringing back the famous Coca Cola Ferris Wheel and giving out free rides. Of course, there will be plenty of crawfish being cooked up as well, and plates start as low as $10.

You can also find plenty of other great food being sold around the event like fresh BBQ, Papa John's pizza and plenty of carnival type foods. Plus, check out the many vendors set up around the event for a chance to get your hands on some great merchandise! Tickets to the event start at $30 for single day general admission, and VIP weekend passes can be purchased for only $140. Packages can also be purchased that include free nights at the nearby Sheraton Birmingham Hotel.
