Silent HD Collection (Video Game Review)

The Silent Hill HD Collection combines two great classics into one bundle. Silent Hill 2 changed the way a Silent Hill games would be played for future generations when it was released early in the PlayStation 2's life cycle, and that game was followed up by Silent Hill 3--a game that would provide a true sequel to the original game while providing innovations of its own. These two great titles have been remastered with 720p HD graphics and a brand new voice-over as well.

While the graphics still look relatively the same, they are now clearer and make the experience you'll have with the games that much more immersive. The new voice-over helps as well. It takes a subpar at best collection of voice acting and replaces it with an all-star cast of video game actors that simply makes the games an amazing new play even for fans of the classic titles. Both of the games play similar with one of the primary differences coming in the games' protagonists, obviously. In Silent Hill 2 you play as a man who seeks out the town of Silent Hill after reading about it in a letter from his deceased wife.

The game offers more of a sad and depressing tale than that featured in the third game. Silent Hill 3 places you in control of Heather--the adopted daughter of the protagonist in the original Silent Hill. You find yourself in the dreaded world of Silent Hill, and a cult is after you for unknown reasons. Your only help during the game comes from a nice man but complete stranger. Both games tell an amazing storyline that would propel Silent Hill to the top of the survival horror genre pyramid alongside other giants of the genre and gaming industry. Both games offer up scary monsters and environments, interesting characters that you'll care about, combat that you've come to expect from Silent Hill games and a whole bunch of challenging puzzles.

One of the primary differences will be how often you will have to turn off your flashlight and sneak past enemies while using your trusty radio to determine where the monsters lurk in the darkness during Silent Hill 2. The only drawback with the games is that the classic game and camera controls still linger in the new collection. This may turn off many newer generation gamers, as they have become accustomed to modern games that typically don't suffer from these somewhat clunky controls, but these are still two great games offered at a discounted price that tell two of the best stories ever told in gaming, period. Pick this collection up if you get a chance. If you've never played the games, you need to. And even if you've already played them before, you'll still appreciate these games all these years later and can enjoy the new enhancements.

This is where the buffet line reigns supreme, the sweet tea flows endlessly, and dessert is always just an arm’s reach away. For many locals, Kacey’s is a comfort food paradise. Fans brag about the fried green tomatoes, juicy pork chops, slow-cooked beef tips, and banana pudding that deserves its own holiday. The staff are another highlight—quick with refills, friendly enough to feel like family, and the kind of people who can make a buffet feel like Sunday dinner at grandma’s. But Kacey’s has its critics too. Some diners rave about “the best bang for your buck in town,” while others complain that the food sometimes veers into “straight-from-the-can” territory. Like most buffets, it’s a roll of the dice: hit the line on a good day and you’ll be full and happy; catch it on an...
