Fable Novels on the Way

To help promote the upcoming titles Fable: The Journey and Fable Heroes, game developer Lionshead Studios, Random House Publishing Group and Prima Guides will be teaming up to bring fans the world of Fable in book form. Two novels that link the story of the games will be released starting with "Fable: At the Edge of the World" in August 2012. There will also be numerous shorts available on all major e-readers that focus on key characters from the Fable universe including Reaver, Jack of Blades and Theresa starting in May 2012. A Fable IP bible and a Fable: The Journey strategy guide will also be released in the coming months. Read on for more details on all of this great content and more!

The agreement will support the release of the upcoming games Fable: The Journey as well as Fable: Heroes, and will encompass two novels, multiple digital shorts, a comprehensive world bible, and a strategy guide. The first novel, FABLE: AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD, written by New York Times bestselling author Christie Golden, will bridge the events of Fable III and the upcoming Fable: The Journey, and is scheduled to release in August 2012. Releasing prior to the novel’s publication, and closely-timed to the release of Fable: Heroes, will be three digital shorts written by bestselling author Peter David, focusing on key characters from the Fable universe. Each short will be available on all major e-reading platforms, and release as follows:
  • FABLE: REAVER – May 2012
  • FABLE: JACK OF BLADES – May 2012
  • FABLE: THERESA– June 2012
    • More details on the content and publication dates of the second novel—and on the Fable: Journey Prima strategy guide—will be revealed in the coming months. In addition, Random House Worlds, the Random House Publishing Group’s intellectual property creation and development group, will develop the internal IP bible for the Fable universe. The bible will be a living document that will cover all previously-released Fable products and serve as a comprehensive reference for any creators working in the Fable world. “There are so many components of this collaboration that are exciting to us,” said Keith Clayton, associate publisher of Del Rey and creative director at Random House Worlds. “Working closely with Lionhead and Prima, we have a consistent content strategy that starts with the Fable IP bible and leads directly to the release of high-quality Fable products, in both the physical and digital space.” “The Fable canon – the stories, characters and gameplay that we’ve crafted for many years, is near and dear to the hearts of our loyal fans and the employees at Lionhead Studios,” said Gareth Sutcliffe, business manager for Lionhead Studios. “We believe Random House Worlds will do an excellent job representing our storied franchise and creating assets our fans will find highly valuable.”
