Diablo III (Video Game Review)

After much anticipation, Diablo III is here, and it's amazing! Fans have been waiting for Blizzard Entertainment's sequel since it was announced four years ago, and the monumental sequel has managed to capture the classic addictive gameplay with some revamped graphics and an abundance of new features. If you've never played Diablo before, you're missing out on one of the greatest RPG series ever, and Diablo III is the best offering available in the series.

It has been 20 years since the events that transpired in Diablo II, and now, a falling star has given sign to the dreaded End Times omen and another deadly invasion from the Prime Evils. You will once again create your own character to venture to Tristram and throughout all of Sanctuary controlling. Although Sanctuary has changed much since the destruction of the Worldstone, there will be familiar characters returning to lend their part to the war. You must stop the demonic invasion at all costs, but you will be rewarded for your efforts with the best storyline ever featured in the Diablo series.

Diablo III keeps all of the classic gameplay fans have come to love and fixes any problems the games have had over the years. You will still point and click your way through dungeons to destroy enemies, complete missions and acquire more loot than you know what to do with, but all of this has been made much more simplistic with the use of several new features including new health and mana systems, skill runes and new followers that include allies in battle and blacksmiths and jewelers outside of combat. Of course, combat has been tweaked as well with plenty of new skills, enhanced controls and new characters at your disposal including the Witch Doctor, Demon Hunter, Monk and Wizard classes.

Diablo III also has many new features designed to keep you playing long after you've completed the game for the first time. For starters, you can unlock three increasing difficulty levels upon completing the game on the hardest difficulty available at the time, and these difficulties range from Normal to Nightmare to Hell to the most difficult Inferno mode. If that weren't enough reason to keep playing the game, you can also participate in player vs. player battles in all new arenas designed specifically for the game mode in addition to the up to four player cooperative campaign mode. Diablo III has also added a brand new auction house that allows players to meet up to buy and sell in-game items through online auctions for in-game currency and real money. Each new addition is a welcome feature to an already amazingly entertaining series.

The game has a high quality presentation that goes beyond the new easy to use controls. Fantastic art and design is seen in every facet of the game including character and enemy design, environments, cut scenes and in-game menus. Diablo III is the best looking game in the series by far, and it is the best looking Blizzard game as well. The game also features fantastic sound design from the realistic sound effects to an enchanting soundtrack.

If you haven't already preordered Diablo III, do not hesitate to purchase the game when it releases tomorrow. There is absolutely nothing to hate about Diablo III, and the game is the best in the entire epic series. This one is dedicated to all of the loyal fans that stuck with Diablo series this far, but anyone can pick up and enjoy such a high quality gaming experience. Diablo III is the next great RPG, and you don't want to be left out.
