Meeting Evil is a new horror/thriller from director Chris Fisher. In the film, Luke Wilson stars as an antihero of sorts; having lost his job and possibly losing his wife after having an affair, main protagonist John meets the movie's main antagonist Richie (Samuel L. Jackson). Unbeknownst to John, Richie is a serial killer with a bit of a superiority complex. Richie’s mission here is to change John's views on life while trapping him in his own world of violence and a desperate attempt to hide from the cops.
This type of movie has been done numerous times before, and Meeting Evil does little to differentiate itself from these types of movies. Good guy thinks his life sucks and is on a spiraling path of self-destruction, and the bad guy captures him in his world in order to prove the two don't live quite so different lives and to give the protagonist a newfound appreciation for his own life. Needless to say, storyline isn't the strongest point of this movie, but it's still a formula that can still be highly entertaining with the right presentation. Luke Wilson and Samuel L. Jackson perform their roles perfectly in the film, as one of Wilson's best seems to be as the downtrodden, meager type characters, and Jackson is always brilliant in overly aggressive roles. The supporting cast in Meeting Evil perform well too, with Leslie Bibb delivering a wonderful role as John's caring wife. Meeting Evil is a horror and thriller movie in one. While there are enough death scenes to keep gore heads pleased, there are equal parts of intensely dramatic scenes and action-packed scenes to boot. The film is brilliantly directed, and it will keep you guessing how the story will turn out right up until the very end. If you enjoy suspenseful, horror flicks, Meeting Evil is one film you shouldn't pass up! For more information on Meeting Evil, check out its official IMDB page.
