Schaeffer Eye Center Crawfish Boil (Event Review)

On May 4-5, 2012 at the BJCC and Sheraton Hotel in Birmingham, Alabama, the Schaeffer Eye Center Crawfish Boil brought out thousands of fans of music, entertainment and good food for one of the biggest crawfish boils in the world. The tremendous event was host to many great vendors and entertainers there to promote their products including Coca Cola, U.S. Marines, and many others.

The gates opened at 3 P.M. on Friday and 2 P.M. on Saturday, but the biggest attraction at the event was the music that would come later on both days. Artists that attended and performed at the event included Jane's Addiction and The Cult on Friday Night and Megadeth, Lupe Fiasco, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa on Saturday night. The Friday concerts opened with up and coming country artist Drake White taking over the Virginia College stage, and the great music continued the rest of the day with artists Blackberry Smoke, Childish Gambino and Brantley Gilbert following.

On Saturday, attendees were treated to more great music beginning with indie rock band Moon Taxi bringing their unique sounds to the stage with Futurebirds and The Head & The Heart following them. Both memorable nights were full of great performances, and with so many diverse bands and solo artists present, there was sure to be something playing at the event that everyone could enjoy. Of course, it wouldn't be the Schaeffer Eye Center Crawfish Boil without the good folks behind the event serving up some of the best crawfish you've ever tasted, and with plates starting as low as $10, attendees could find themselves a tasty meal for a modest price.

If crawfish wasn't exactly your idea of a good meal, there were plenty of independent vendors serving up ice cream, chicken, barbeque, sandwiches and other delicacies, and Papa John's was baking and selling fresh pizza during the entire event too. Just like the unique variety of music heard throughout the event, there was something that could tempt everyone's taste buds being sold around the event. The Schaeffer Eye Center Crawfish Boil was a hit in 2012, and if you find yourself in Birmingham, Alabama during the annual event next year, don't hesitate to join in on the fun. You can listen to great music, eat tasty foods and even check out all of the friendly vendors; there is always something fun going on during the event. Families are encouraged to attend the kid friendly event as well, so you have no excuse not to check out this great entertainment.

You can find out more about the Schaeffer Eye Center Crawfish Boil and check out some of the great interview coverage BioGamer Girl was able to secure at the event in the next upcoming issue of the magazine.
