Atari Inc.– Business is Fun Releases Soon as Part of 40th Anniversary

The Atari brand is quite possibly the longest running company in the history of the video game industry with its origins dating back 40 years in 2012. During that span, Atari has become one of the most well known gaming companies in the world for having produced numerous hit franchises such as Frogger, Pong and Pac-Man and for revitalizing the gaming industry during the 1970s and 1980s with its superior versions of home consoles. The company has continued to make a name for itself with newer titles such as Roller Coaster Tycoon franchise, Dungeons and Dragons: Daggerdale and Tera, and they have also recently released the mobile titles Circus Atari and Centipede: Origins. As part of the 40th Anniversary celebration, the book "Atari Inc. – Business is Fun" will be releasing in the near future as well. Atari Inc. – Business is Fun takes a look at the historic rise of Atari as the major video game brand in the 1970s and 1980s. In the over 300 pages of content, you will learn about the legendary company from the video game historian team of Marty Goldberg and Curt Vendel who have recently wrapped up their seven year long project. The book not only gives out dates, sales statistics and other historical data found in most accounts of Atari, but you'll also get a behind the scenes look at the founding fathers of video games with exclusive interviews you can only read in this unique publication as you learn what it was like to work in the video games industry during this pivotal era. Here's what the authors recently had to say about their book:

“Our intent was to focus on the behind-the-scenes stories from the people who worked there," said Goldberg. "’Atari Inc. – Business Is Fun’ goes beyond facts and figures – we wanted to give readers an unparalleled look into what it was like to work at a place that created fun for a living as told by the people who were responsible for Atari’s success."

Vendel elaborates, "Most people associate Atari with the company logo, video games like ‘PONG’ and how revolutionary the company was by bucking the ‘Big Blue’ mold, letting people show up to work in jeans and sandals, but the public at large was never exposed to the hearts and souls that created the company. This book will dispel… and maybe also ‘confirm’ numerous rumors by giving readers that front row, first person experience.”

Atari Inc. -- Business is Fun is now available for preorder on the official Atari book website and is coming soon to Amazon.
