At the start of the game, players find the solitude seeking Shrek attempting to outfit his beloved Swamp with all manner of ogre-ly comforts. When the Fairytale Creatures of Far Far Away start to invade the Swamp, Shrek begins an epic journey across the Kingdom, facing adventure, hilarious encounters, and eventually…True Love.
The game is divided into four domains taken from the first film including Shrek’s Swamp, Duloc, Dragon's Keep and the Windmill Field. Players progress in the game by building, decorating and customizing the four domains with characters, buildings and items plucked right from the films. In order to gather the resources necessary to build and decorate the domains, players will have to go on quests with Shrek, Donkey, Fiona, Dragon and Lord Farquaad to recover riches and collectible items.
Players also have the option to enlist friends for in-game bonuses as well as play a host of mini games themed around events in the movie including fighting knights and practicing ogre hygiene.
